True , often times the quality of housing (in Ireland and the UK )doesn’t correspond with the price ! But yeah it is a broad European issue , (Ireland, UK , Netherlands, Luxembourg etc…) many countries have a problem with housing underdevelopment … caused by multiple factors

Thanks for sharing guys. I have been following you for a while. Great work! My husband Kyle and I are thinking of moving to Ireland from Canada. (We are an LGBT+ couple, and I was born in Romania but have lived and studied in Canada for the last 35 years). I know the situation in Ireland is a bit challenging, but Canada is getting there, too, now, so I think we need a change. Cheers, Chris

The Hole in the Wall brings me back! I’ve actually slept in the apartment above it a couple of times, as mates of mine went to college in Galway. (The Hole above the Wall, ha ha). It’s kinda an embarrassment that Ireland hasn’t invested enough in its military defence to be able to protect its own airspace. Other European countries, like Austria and Switzerland, understand that even if you’re neutral, you still need to be able to protect your homeland from attack, if necessary. I think the potato thing comes from Irish chippers importing some English species of potato, as they’re better for chips. But Irish spuds are really good for mash and whatnot. A lot of things do occur “only in Ireland”, though. Ireland is seen as an exceptional case across a lot of the social sciences, probably because we’re a small island off the coast of Western Europe which was colonized, unlike most of the other Western EU states. For instance, Ireland routinely elects more Independent TDs than the rest of Europe put together. Ireland is probably the most pro-Palestinian country in the EU. Ireland is still the only west EU country that doesn’t have a significant anti-immigrant party in the national parliament. Ireland is the only country I know where it rains all the time but we have water shortages when we get a few weeks of dry weather.

Watching your videos always lifts my spirits. I hope you have a great day. The best potatoes are in Ireland. My wife says Ireland spoiled me since nothing else tastes as good in the US. Mashed, roasted, scalloped, hassellback, au gratin, chips, crisps and every other style are all better in Ireland. Kerry Gold is 4X the cost of our local butter and it's worth it. There's nothing better. The hard cider is better too. Orchard Thieves is calling me home.

It's not 'people from other countries' mispronouncing our names, it's English people insisting they're hard to pronounce as if they're weirdly spelled English names (you know, like Magdalene and Worchestershire nad Cholmondeley) instead of words from another language.

I think I must do a very thorough experiment between Irish and English breakfasts and get back to you 10 of each at different places 😅😂

Main difference is that the English generally don’t do white pudding with their breakfast. Also, in Northern Ireland, they often add a soda farl, which isn’t so common down south.

If you think Irish names are hard to pronounce, you could try Czech, a language which is severely challenged in terms of vowels. The Czech word for ice cream has six letters, with the first vowel coming after FOUR consonants…

Nah … I think the Irish drink a lot but not as much as the Danes and Finns 😂!! The only problem (difference ) in Ireland is the access to proper healthcare for all people . That’s not to say by any means an excessive drinking is a good idea 😅

Irish people are lovely, but that one thing really annoys me. They seem to think everyone should know how to pronounce Irish words. "We don't have a prime minister, we have a Taoiseach". My man, EVERY COUNTRY has a word for their prime minister on their own language. Every country has names as well, but noone else expects you to pronounce it correctly, it's a foreign language. By the way, even Irish people don't speak Irish, and no, it's not the English's fault any more. In this day of age, with the internet and endless free content of every language, anyone can learn any language if they wanted to. OK rant is over, overall Irish people (especially Cork people) are nicer than most other people I've met.
