Other European countries get more public holidays. Ireland has one of the lowest number of public holidays. 30 days is very rare, 25 is usually the most and that's with international companies located in Ireland.

Very few people milk the system. This is a myth that is allowed to propagate in Ireland. Our politicians and many Irish themselves believe that social welfare is charity not a right so anyone taking it is taking advantage. As for their opinion on the housing criss this is because many Irish still only get their news from local radio, rte or word of mouth. The Irish are so naive in many ways.

Alot of pubs are dying here, opening only 4 nights in alot of rural areas. People don't need to go to the pub anymore to catch up with others, they are connected all the time via social media and don't need to leave the house anymore. The cost of drink in Ireland thanks to taxes and inflation increases has a massive effect too.
@Bullion-Bikes-n-Babes-TourКүн бұрын
Sorry to hear so many people are being rude here that you have to put that warning up. And I have to agree on the pub culture. England is a close second, but Ireland is first. When I lived in Vegas, the Green Valley Ranch casino hired "The Irish Pub Company", based in Dublin, to come out - Irish workers and all - and build a GENUINE Irish pub in the casino. It's fantastic if you ever get a chance.

Isle of Tenerife, Spain, Africa. For me the best factor about the pubs I've preferred is the fact that they simply don't pipe music on electric speakers in them. Like the old days, they simply leave the natural silence to be organically filled, or not, by the patrons, be it with banter, laughing, crying, yes, even arguing, some philosophically refreshing moments of just calm, reflective silence, and if you wait patiently, eventually singers and musicians will start appearing, to have a good old sing-song or music session from time to time, live and personal, no electricity used, ideally. Best wishes, Patchy.

Have you seen the price of vans and cars here? Much too much for the average young person trying to study in Galway. My grandson will be going there in September and I’m going to help fund his travel expenses, he lives 70 KLM’s away. He will have to travel daily by bus. Even if we could afford the rent the shortages of quality accommodation is so scares. He has a health issue and couldn’t live in anywhere there is damp or mould. That was his sister’s experience of the last couple of years in Galway.

Thank the government for allowing funds and foreign investors buy up most of the private property resulting in Irish people having to rent. They are even leaving properties empty in rent controlled zones for up to 2 years so they can re let an a significant higher rent

Unfortunately, those prices seem tame when you look at rents in LA. Compared to the Emerald Isle, at least, although 900 Euro seems expensive, but students out here pay that regularly.

It's not 'people from other countries' mispronouncing our names, it's English people insisting they're hard to pronounce as if they're weirdly spelled English names (you know, like Magdalene and Worchestershire nad Cholmondeley) instead of words from another language.

Don't hate the landlords, hate the government allowing in hundreds of thousands of ''asylum'' seekers thus artificially increasing the demand for rented accommodation and anyone with a basic level of economics knows that when demand for something increases and the supply isn't increasing at a proportional rate then the price increases.
