Repo rate is the rate at which Rbi lends money to commercial banks for shorter duration by purchasing govt securities , 4%. Bank rate is the Rate at which RBI lends loans to commercial banks for longer duration. 4.25% Bank rate is higher than repo coz risk is higher .

Repo rate is the rate at which RBI lends money to commercial banks for the short term. whereas bank rate is the rate at which RBI lends money to commercial banks for the long term.

Repo rate is based on short term borrowing of gov, financial institutions, schedule commercial banks, etc. from RBI within one year to mortgage their gov securities to the RBI and bank rate is based on long term borrowing more then one year but intrest of loan issued with msf (marginal standard facility)
