As a lifelong skeptic of the place (and ghosts in general), I'm glad somebody finally put out a reasonable piece of journalism on it. They make a LOT of money selling ghost tours/overnights/etc.. of the place nearly every day of the week (other than Friday and Saturday, as those are the only two days the bar itself is actually open.) It almost makes sense to me with it only being open two days of the week, they needed another way to produce income with the building and came up with these marketing tactics.

It sounds insane, but hear me out - My father used to perform weddings in Colorado Springs, including weddings at Briarhurst. I used to be a little red haired child, my mom and I would sit on the lawn outside while he did minister stuff. So, our best guess is people dining at Briarhurst, not wedding party, saw a little red haired child dressed in what they thought was victorian clothing but was really just an outfit I got at the Colorado Ren Faire, and when my mom would call me away from playing by the windows they would go "what??? a ghost???". as a phycology student my 2 cents regarding infrasound, that the main deal with infra sound, there a a small gap between your ears can perceive and you brain can process, the human hearing is 20Hz TO 20,000Hz but sounds such as 18-19 Hz Fall in the range of being just enough for our ears to pickup but not enough for your brain to process, it causes a discrepancy between your brain and receptors which causes a sense of unease, TLDR your ear is saying you hear something and your brain says you dont

The part about "fictionalized retelling" is spot on. Books of ghost stories commonly take on a more personal tone or expand on detail. If history says someone was hanged, the book will recount a blow-by-blow extended scene of their slow, excruciating demise, what everyone there thought or felt about it, or even make up a foil for the reader to relate to. Anything goes to make the story feel more "real," even if they're extrapolating paragraphs from one sentence of documentation. Or sometimes a guy just likes to spin a few yarns, and ghost hunters run with it like it's the baton in an Olympic relay race.

Morningstar is not another name for Lucifer, Morningstar is the literal translation for the word Lucifer. Lucifer is not really a name in the Bible, it more like a descriptor. When the Bible says Lucifer, it is like saying “the bright one”; even Jesus is referred to as such. The idea that Lucifer is the name of a demon comes from a passage when the Babylonian king, Nebuchadnezzar, is mockingly referred to as Lucifer. The Carl situation really reminds me of, one time me and my mom were watching hoarders and this woman was TERRIFIED of demons. And she kept like roadkill around for some kind of magic warding bull and would draw things in blood around the house, and they were straight up treating her like she was hoarding magazines, like full show template. And we had to shut it off because they were just flat out ignoring this woman having a critical mental health event right in front of them and the way it was affecting her family, like cleaning up the house was gunna fix that crisis.

I think it's beautiful the way you have been telling these video essays. I'm literally laughing all of the video and then it slides perfectly into this perspective critical thinking wrap up without it feeling like a lecture. Talking about the relationship between "supernatural events"/"hauntings" and mental health/exploitation is something that needs to be talked about more. I'm glad you do that here, not a lot of people do.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in Bobby Mackey's, I think you're on to something with the low frequencies. The beer coolers, old heating and cooling systems. Lots of equipment running that generates low hums. I always had a great time at Bobby's, but I was usually performing music with him. I often say the only spirits I can for sure say I've seen at Bobby's were in the bottom of a bottle.

Love your explanation of frequencies, vibration, and all of that. Logically, if you go into an unsafe location, there are cues that your brain will warn you, but you might not see it. It's your body sensing danger and trying to survive.

I use an EMF meter to check on the activity level of ghosts on my property. I have made a discovery which some might find interesting: The EMF level increases dramatically - an obvious indicator of paranormal activity - when my neighbor is using his ham radio. Clearly, ghosts hate radios!

I'm a skeptic in general but the orbs one always especially bugged me. Like they always just look like bugs or specks of dust. What's especially funny to me is when there will be a bunch of specks and then they'll point to one that is indistinguishable from the resr and be like "ghost orb!"

I think the thing that makes me the most upset about the Project Fear stuff is that, when they had their show on Travel, it wasn't like their YT content AT ALL. The whole point of Destination Fear was a group of friends going on a road trip to "haunted locations" to see what the psychological impact of being alone, afraid, and hyped up on tension from the energy/legends/environment would do to a person's constitution. They were constantly debunking things and didn't overreact and hype things up for drama and views, when something weird happened it felt genuine - even if it wasn't paranormal. Then they had to move to YT and got caught up in the Sam and Colby mess and became goofy AF to feel more like "KZbinrs" and it lost a lot of the charm. They're like two completely different shows, it's a bummer.
@puppiesarepower36825 ай бұрын
Please don't support ANY season of "Ghost Hunters"/"Destination Fear" style junk. There are way better alternatives on KZbin, like Beyond Creepy and Think Anomalous!. Heck, go watch Bedtime Stories. Or go check out older stuff like Unsolved Mysteries or Sightings. But, for goodness sake stop embracing these dam circus sideshow clown jabronies, from any season, from any KZbin channel.

I continue to adore John Wolfe immeasurably - so proud to be a shareholder! Please keep this style of content up promoting media literacy with a focus on paranormal debunking. I appreciate you pointing out the science behind the tools and concepts too, since I personally don’t have the patience to watch full videos about it, but the snippets you include with credit to the investigators is perfect. That said, I remain a Boogara because I do believe in ghosts, but I think they’re a personal thing more than something you can measure or capture for others to see. I’ve had a few experiences after my dad passed that have led me to believe he gave me a few signs he’s keeping tabs on me and my mum is having other types of experiences, but they’re nothing spectacular to catch on camera and again, it gives me comfort, so it’s nothing sensational. ANYWAYS, if you continue to dissect a location (which I love!!), please consider Demon House, the Sally House, Cecil Hotel, or Goatman’s [Ryan and Shane’s] Bridge. All really odd locations with a whole lot of baggage to unpack. I personally find the Sally House kinda fascinating due to the original occupants being so open on camera about what happened, but it’s been awhile since I’ve looked into it so perhaps it’s also a nothingburger. In terms of a real place teeming with bad vibes, The Domes in Arizona are very unsettling. Probably one of the best Ghost Adventure episodes if you want disturbing or just genuinely unnerving feels. In any case, always looking forward to your next video and wishing you and your family the best!

I have been really enjoying these ghost debunking videos. First of all- what a great way to show that we should at the very least- be aware of the fact that we all have preconceived notions before we try to problem solve. A great lesson in taking a beat and not jumping to conclusions. And second of all- well I am just loving these videos overall- i am not very knowledgeable around video making but just the way you structure and edit everything makes it so solid and thoughtful. The fact that none of the people considered that Carl needed help.. and could have been dealing with a genuine mental illness… in itself a reminder of how having our ego tied to our beliefs can make us callous instead of empathetic. For all the “communication” they claim to do… they listen to very little.
