the commenter was talking about the systems people use for temperature, americans use fahrenheit and water boils at a very random number (212) whereas in most other countries, celsius is the standard measurement in which water boils at 100 degrees which is a much easier number to remember, thank you for your time and i hope you now understand. 😁

You add water to a dish and then put the tubs that the apples are in into the water to create a bain marie which helps create steam in the oven and cooks the apple better 😂😂

RECIPE: Cinnamon Rolls Apples - (strong apples that will hold up while baking - we used Gala) Melted Butter Brown Sugar Cinnamon Slice off the top of each apple and hollow out using a melon baller - being careful not to cut through the sides and to leave a thicker base. Brush the inside of each apple with melted butter and a sprinkling of brown sugar and cinnamon. Place a cinnamon roll in each apple and Bake in a preheated oven at 350˚F (175˚C) for 15 minutes uncovered and then an additional 25-30 minutes covered loosely with foil. Remove from over and drizzle with icing. Serve warm and enjoy!

The water is there to help the apples get nice and soft and the brown sugar to caramelize and coat the pecans. Otherwise it'd just be dry heat on the apples in the oven and they would turn out crusty and hard and not delicious. That's what the pan is for. To put the apples (in thier containers) on and be kind of steamed in the oven as well as baked. :D
