This professor's lectures are awesome. Only wish she had a lecture on every Shakespeare play.

Great lecture. It is wonderful how you can educate yourself by watching a video from a Harvard English class.

At minute 8'43" there is a question about why James (Ist of England, VI of Scotland) was not interested in adding Wales to the union after he was crowned king of the union in 1603. The reason is that Wales had already been annexed to England. To quote the Wikipedia entry on Wales: " The conquest of Wales by Edward I of England was completed by 1283, though Owain Glyndŵr led the Welsh Revolt against English rule in the early 15th century and briefly re-established an independent Welsh principality. The whole of Wales was annexed by England and incorporated within the English legal system under the Laws in Wales Acts 1535 and 1542". Remember that in his play on Henry V, Shakespeare includes a welsh captain figting for Henry V -Captain Fluellen.

This is a real university-level lecture; the conversations are also not lacking in intellectual calibre. Not like what goes on at pseudo universities like utrgv in south Texas.

Same. I'm in a state school in CA. Just the way the professor listens to the student intently at 8:22 mark and asks "and can you say why that is?" was so refreshing. I've had that environment before at a community college but unfortunately not this semester.

The play seems like a precursor to Sleeping Beauty.

I found it a big mess, albeit w a few great scenes. The characters have no inner lives.
