I got something different: using a calculator: 17.944 which is equal to 9 + 4(5)^2 (1/2)^6 + ((5^1/2)/2)^6 1/64 + (5^6/2)/64 1/64 + 5^3/64 1/64 + 125/64 126/64 1 31/32 decimal 1.96875 1/2^6 = 1/64 ((5^)^1/2)^6 (5^6/2)/64 1/64 + (5^3)/64 (1+(5^3))/64 =126/64 =1 31/32 I messed up a rule somewhere.

Wonderful video, super teacher! I got the wrong written answer. It was an interview question though. Could you answer this question please? Suppose x= a + square root(n) x b , with a,b belonging to the real numbers and n to the natural numbers. We then know that any power of x can be written in terms of x, the power of which is 1. x power m is in the form c + square root(n) x d , with c and d elements of the real numbers. Which makes calculations easier. Right?... BIG THANK YOU

Calculator is not allowed. You have to do it in your head.
