There's really no need to be upset by this prank. Harvard and Yale students enjoy a fun rivalry. They do this kind of thing to one another all the time. Yes, perhaps if I had been getting the tour, I might have been miffed. But most serious college visitors know to go to the Office of Admissions to arrange a tour. These folks might have been just going by and thought they'd take him up on the free tour.

You're welcome! I actually thoroughly enjoyed that video. However Smooth is right that New Haven is a great place nowadays (and has been since the early 2000s). The 'new haven sucks' reputation is from 20+ years ago before they cleaned the place up. Yale's campus is safer than Havard's (at least for 2008-2012, Harvard had 2-3x the number of incidents reported in the school community).

I live 20 minutes from New Haven and it is a terrible. If Yale was not there, New Haven would probably be worse than Bridgeport. However, I can't say much because I made the choice to go to UChicago, which is in South Side Chicago.

The comments on here are incredibly ridiculous. I know someone who went to my school (which is a public school) and was open about how dirt poor she was. Her parents were immigrants, but that didn't stop her. She worked her ass off and got a full ride to Harvard. So all u saying that you have to be 'born into it' stfu, you're just jealous. In America it is generally easier to move up the socio-economic latter and achieve a degree of fairness, but it still isn’t easy by any means. “Rags to Riches” has never been a phenomena exhibited by everyone. Many times it does boil down to simple luck. And you can’t deny that legacies DO have an advantage in the college admissions process, and even though not only legacies are accepted, it’s still one less spot for a non-legacy student.

Ali Soleimani I wouldn't say "luck" but rather personal motivation fueled by a deep passion for what you are doing; not everyone needs to go to university, because on a level of "what do you really want", not everyone REALLY wants that; the people that do, will get it because they are pursuing stuff with integrity towards themselves first and towards what they want; I think that if you have integrity you can move mountains; it's not a luck thing.

Obviously props to anyone who attends Harvard or Yale, I never would have gotten accepted in a millions years. That being said I had a much more enjoyable college experience than any Harvard/Yale student and have a job that pays my bills plus a little more. Happiness is all that matters in life

The fact that Harvard students feel the need to poke fun at Yale students and the university says it all. There is no rivalry that can match the Harvard-Yale rivalry because it is the oldest and it is based on athletics as well as academics.

There was a time when I was accepted to both Harvard and Yale. Then I considered the advice of my Harvard interviewer, who had attended Harvard for undergrad but Yale for grad school and felt that Yale had the same academic prowess but a better community. I visited both, and chose Yale. Go figure.

I had the same experience (with the interviewer recommending I got to Yale and everything). I did, and never regretted it; I had a great time and grew a lot as a person. My wife went to Harvard and she had no fun/was stressed the entire time she was there. Granted, we are just two data points, so this is hardly a trend, but based on what I hear from my other Harvard friends, I think Yale's is definitely a better community to be a member of.

I cant judge about the quality of Yale and Harvard but the fact is that the tuition fees and campus expenses are over the top. Oxford on the other hand is way cheaper and by my knowledge also a very good school with long tradition. Sorbonne is also much much cheaper. Both France and UK are developed countries with high annual wages. I would like to know what do you get at Harvard and Yale that you cant get at Oxford or Sorbonne? Please not that I am not trolling or judging, I am just asking for fact from people who know what they are talking about.

Actually, both Harvard and Yale have a lot of financial aid, and most students receive at least some financial aid at both institutions. Indeed, for anybody whose family earns less than $65,000, Harvard is essentially free. So, even though the price initially seems like a lot, both Harvard and Yale can actually be much more affordable than a state school.

If you want to argue about which school has smarter students, you shouldn't even be comparing the two. These are preppy schools with kids that can do well in private school and afford private SAT tutoring. Did you know 45% of Harvard undergrads live in a household that makes over $200,000 a year? If you want the truly smart, argue uChicago, MIT, and CalTech. The ivies just don't touch them.
