Which Harvard exam was this question on? I doubt that students would be required to know the Lambert W function on an admissions exam, and it seems highly unlikely that 99% of students would get this wrong on an exam in any special functions course or any course where the Lambert W function was presented. So, please tell me exactly which Harvard exam this appeared on.

Do a bunch of odd math. Use weird functions. Then just use a calculator anyway. Just guess and refine, works faster.

You wont necessarily get the exact answer by guessing and refining

@@pagjimaagjinen9733 you can get to 3 decimal places, just as good as using the weird formula before using a calculator anyway...

What function is this

Appears to be using a Lambert W function. Wikipedia notes Application includes solving this type of problem, i.e. solve for y where y*ln(y)=C and C is some constant. Happy Googling.
