Harvest at dawn!
We are harvesting our spring beans! This is the last crop of harvest 2022, and it it clear that the beans have suffered the most from the dry spring and summer. Which has meant that they have yielded poorly.
We have been harvesting them in the morning as they shatter in the daytime when they dry out. In the mornings there has been a nice dew which held the pods shut.

Good afternoon. Your beans look a bit short, obviously from a lack of water. Hopefully performed well.

They did perform poorly this year due to a drier spring. They actually got a lot shorter as they ripened which was a bit disappointing. This year we are going to try winter beans as they will hopefully perform better on our land

I see you flip the bundles when you pick them up. Do you store them like that when stacking? Do they keep well?

Yes, we flip them for easy handling, we have bale spikes so we flip the packs so the spikes slide in between the wedges of the bales. When stood up you can’t spike the packs. They keep very well like that. And they are easier to stack - the stack is much more stable.

Hey I was watching the bale baron video...what is the clear fluid tank on the top of the bale baron?

Is that the tank that is on the top? If so it just has some water in it. Had it on there to clean hands etc.
