My findings of BTO yields around here: Take what they say for yield and take off 25% and then their actual yield is pretty close to the new number. My oats went 110 and I’m very happy with that. Other than a heavy rain event in June, we’ve had next to no decent rains. Barley was 85 and wheat 60. Only canola and flax left. Taking a quick break working on canola now.
@chadtosh68312 жыл бұрын
Good evening Tyson . Lots of guys started canola harvest the past few days here. A lot of the cereals are getting done besides the later planted stuff. I’ve got some later planted barley left that will probably go later this week.

I have never seen any deere conventional chop straw worth anything. They need an aftermarket chopper with an upgraded drive for it. The drive for a Jd chopper isn’t adequate for a chopper that will actually be effective

Looks like harvest is going well for you. Those combines with pick-up heads are a novelty to me, because we don't have them in our part of the country. It sure seems dry when you are.

It has been dry the past 2 years... this year more moisture from the begining of spring....but thats the reason I bought straight headers this fall... there was no need to swath.... the crops dried out on their own!!

Tyson r u interested in a. JD 9860 combine? My brother in Whitecourt has one for sale. It had $40,000 work done to it getting it Green Lighted. I’ve run it for him and it combines great. It comes with a pickup and straw chopper. You can see more details on Kijjiji under Chad Merrifield.

With the price of fuel, every time you don’t have to make a pass in a field, you’re saving quite a bit of money.

This true...but usually you have to buy desiccant and either hire a high sprayer...plus fuel...

Your crops are late, did u plant late or ?? we finished 2500 ac 2 row barley at the south farm August 19, tested 11.8 and 63% protein, home farm 3000 ac 6 row barley finished August 25th tested 12.9 and 49% protein, now we are looking for round wheat straw bales, but the big farmers around here just want to chop their straw into dust. Dam those new combines destroy the straw into nothing but dust. checked out what was left after taking 45ft pieces less then 2 inches, that really does not help the soil out at all.
@Northern_Farmer2 жыл бұрын
We actually were late seeding... started after the may long weekend... usually are done by then... but the late july... and August heat with no rain matured the crops faster then I have ever seen. Yes... with the price of fertlizer now and also for moisture retension.... everyone wants to put the straw back in.
