Alabaster guarding the corn and catching the mice - such a good dog! The wood cook stove finally being used must have felt so good. Congratulations on a a successful wine season.

Oh the memories watching your videos Quim, my father's favorite day of the year Saint Martin, the cheese the wine tasting and of course the chestnuts roasting, these are the precious moments that eventually are forgotten about when you live abroad and the old pass away.

We enjoy your videos so much Joaquim. You allow us to hear the sounds and see the countryside that we miss so much. So many people talk over these. When we finally move to Portugal we hope to work with the land, not against it. You showing us some traditional ways are extremely interesting and informative. And what a perfectionist you are!🙂 Thanks again.

Boa tarde Joaquim. Boa semana. Valdemar

Another great episode. I watch your progress with admiration. Perhaps tell us sometime what your long term project in the homestead is, what do you plan to grow and breed. Do you aim at sufficiency and selling some products? Cheers with the St. Martin wine!

@@arjanvogel6444 Actually I watched the video until the very end and heard him talking about the tent. That's why I said “I was wondering” and not “I'm wondering”. Perdeste uma boa ocasião para estares calado.

The great mouser. We have rats, there is a local village grain silo where grains is dried after harvesting and spill out attracts rats. Sometimes you forget when an ovcharka starts acting strange and a 60 kgs of paws rumbling in the barn attic after a rat. I think they like their life - the dogs I mean, not the rats. ;-)

Rats also have a great life 😉

You will need to provide the chickens with a supplemental protein source as corn protein is low and will not meet the needs for laying hens.

Mice, slugs & snails, lizards. They find for themselves.
@Joaquim_Conde19 сағат бұрын
Corn is mostly a carbohydrate, so the birds will get energy from it as well as a good fat source. Protein comes from the insects and invertebrates that the birds will find while foraging.

You dont ferment any vegetables for your short winters there?
@FernaManuКүн бұрын
When you say that 9% alcohol content is good for that region, you are only referring to vinhos verdes which are typically low in alcohol (but high in taste and character). It does not apply to vinhos maduros, am I wrong?
@Joaquim_CondeКүн бұрын
Correct, the red Verdes are low in alcohol and high in tannin.
