Honestly I think he’s some sort of eldritch god who traps people in Forget Me Not Valley and feeds off them. He’s also kinda terrible to the MC if you play the Female Protagonist version: SHE has to hound HIM to even inherit the farm, and if she doesn’t marry some Bland As Spoiled Milk local guy (and push out a kid) she loses it all…all while dealing with casual sexism of “wow a woman? Haha” or “I wish people would stop saying I ‘bought the farm.’” Almost all of the residents wind up there without really knowing why and can’t really bring themselves to leave permanently despite not really being happy there-so many of them are bored or wanting to continue traveling again or continuing their careers (or in Hugh’s case, can’t get his career off the ground despite training since he was a toddler). The whole place has this feeling of melancholic nostalgic purgatory…and a lot of it seems to center around how Takakura believes things “should be.” And yeah, he probably will outlive your child, especially if your child takes on the farm and has their own child. He had every opportunity to make that farm successful as “his dream” …but didn’t. (And he definitely prefers the Son MC over Daughter MC.)

watched my mum beat this game when i was 5, my older siblings were at school and it was just her and me. she did not expect this ending at all and was very confused and heartbroken. meanwhile my baby brain just casually processed death for the first time lol

I seen a theory where the MC potentially had Cancer and it went untreated, while it doesn't take an account for his rapid aging the "Sad several days" could be him declining in health which can make someone look older... It's also scary as well because if you see someone everyday, you won't notice their change.

I feel like how at the beginning of the game your dad’s death at your young age was something of evidence really. Maybe your dad in the family tree had some sort of disease or case occurrence of some sort before the initial start of the game where you came to the valley. Perhaps being his offspring you suffered the same fate as your dad did. It’s a theory but to me I feel like it could be the case if we’re talking about implementations of reality. I’m pretty sure what I’m saying is kinda clustered but I’m sure someone knows what I mean.
