I played the girl version of this. It was the second Harvest Moon game I ever played, after A Wonderful Life, and they're both so dear to my hearts. I recently found my old copy of the game and am drinking up the nostalgia! This is probably my favourite game series of all time.

I remember coming home from elementary school and just grabbing my GBA to enter Mineral Town so that I can enter my other life. I remember how much time I spent gathering things, farming and mining in order to make a better batch of shipments so that I can expand my home. I remember always having the Doctor be my love interest. I remember listening to the music or whistling the Mineral Town theme song to myself when I didn't have my GBA with me. I remember playing this coming home from a day of being bullied and instantly a smile spreads on my face. This was one of the best parts of my childhood.
