Between Deere’s over use of electronics, shoddy workmanship in the factory, and a dealer who should have inspected that new corn head pre delivery all spells major trouble that should never happen!

Sorry you are having so much trouble to start off the harvest. It is a real shame that there is a lack of pride in workmanship and service these days. I do pray that you have a safe and successful harvest in the end. Stay safe and God bless.

Carl, those new heads are shipped vertically and attached to a steel shipping frame, and stored at dealer same way, explains the accumulation of dirt underneath and the paint rubs. What’s concerning is that head was obviously not pre checked at all by your dealer prior to delivery. That’s unacceptable! I’m a 76 year old farmer, seen a lot in my day, obvious to me your dealer failed you totally, and Deere quality has gone down considerably. Their greatly increased use of electronics has caused way too many issues with tractors, combines and planters. Last spring there were numerous headaches with their planters because of electronics, lost valuable planting time. Deere needs to get their act together!

Personally, I always ran all IH then Case IH. Never had such shoddy issues as those. My dealer wouldn’t let any machine out the door that had not been thoroughly inspected, adjusted, cleaned, paint touched up, lubricated, test run, prior to delivery. They always had a tech in my field on first run day to make sure all was correct.

@malcolmcolvard91632 жыл бұрын
You may get a number of excuses why there are problems with the new corn head, but when it is harvest time and the clock is running, only one thing counts and that is performance. I would be looking for reliability data on Deere and competitive equipment and be talking to people who make other colors of equipment and make sure the Deere dealer knows and understands that. It reminds me of an old southern saying, "that dog won't hunt".

@@dodgebrothersfarmandranch9206 They certainly one of the best. In my view the dealer failed as well. John Deere, as a company needs to reflect on what made them the best American made ag-equipment manufacturer worldwide. I know that lenders have failed to recognize that the quality of the equipment reduces maintenance and retains value far longer than other manufacturers. Lenders make money on input financing and less on equipment. They should be examining this as well. And John Deere should be shouting from the "roof top" the value of their equipment. So poor marketing on Deere's part has affected the company's ability to afford quality control and supervision of labor. Short-sighted on each party... and who pays the price? The American farmer.
