I had not crocheted since I was a kid and I'm 65! A friend in my neighborhood hosts a monthly crochet, knit, and whatever-you-do afternoon at her house and she invited me to attend. She found this video and sent it to our group. I loved the headband and so I crocheted two of them, one for my daughter and granddaughter. I chose a very soft yarn that's variegated purples and grays. They live close to the Smoky Mountains so these will be cozy warm for them. I'm going to mail them this week. Thank you for the inspiration and the excellent how-to! (I don't use instagram so no address included.)

I've watched and tried to follow several other people's videos demonstrating the herringbone stitch, and this one is the easiest to follow, with the best explanation and demonstration of the stitch that I've found. Thank you so much.

As a lefty, stitching the herringbone in reverse felt so natural. This stitch is super fun, can't wait to finish my ear warmer and see how it turned out!

Me too! Every tutorial out there are mostly the right handed ones and i managed to follow them with being lefty and doing it the opposite way, still works! 😆

Love that you are sooo exact in your explanation and showing how to do the stitches. I'm 78 years old and its help me learn new stitches, old dog sort of thing. My mother taught me to crochet and I have learned so many new stitches, wish was still with me, cause we enjoyed doing things together. I think about her every time I learn a new stitch. I love your channel, your awesome. God bless ,and stay safe. 🙏🙏👍👍👍👏👏👏😍

This is so cute! I love the fishtail 🐟. I had to start over again 3 times tho because it was too small 🤪 after failing to calculate correctly how many cm I have to do (we do not use inches in Poland so I could not measure the chain in inches) I just decided to just measure is by trying it on around my head. Tip for anyone who has bigger head and not so elastic yarn: when you do your chain, add a few chains too much at the beginning. The needlework would "shrink" a bit after you do 2-3 rows of this stitch. It will be perfect at the end 🥰

Lovely! I couldn't get the hang of the stitch and I'm making one for tomorrow (we're going camping and it gets cold at night) so I decided to just do HDC in BLO. Gives it a beautiful ribbed texture! But thanks for the tutorial! Could never figure out how the twist worked. Hoping I can pull it off without messing the whole thing up.

WONDERFUL pattern and excellent tutorial. You are a great teacher - and it is so nice that you did not work fast. My mom is 92, quite spry & you'd never know her age to look at her---she was watching to see this, and LOVED your presentation. Especially the* smushing* together the 4 layers - that was so very helpful! PS Mom says to tell you - she caught this at the very beginning ---"the word SKEIN has a long A SOUND ---pronounce the word "skein" like this: SKANE, not SKEEN :-) "
@mjsoffthehook2 жыл бұрын
That's so nice of her! I had no idea it was pronounced Skane!

Your gauge must be way off. You need to adjust your hook to meet the gauge. Gauge: 8 sts and 6.25 rows equal to 2″ with 5.5mm crochet hook in hbsc
