My imagination is running wild! I've never seen a tulip tree that big. I turn tulip roots and they are beautiful. The character in the wood is amazing and no two are alike. I see the same colors in that burl and whatever it is used for will be absolutely beautiful! Take care, Dave

Good response. I would love to do a project with this burl also but one guy purchased the whole thing and I will not be able to even see the eyes and lace. But that is what I do... Sell burl. :)

The wood slabbed out would make a beautiful table. Or slabbed in 4-5” thick would make beautiful bowl blanks.

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure it was not “ tulip wood”, since I had never heard of tulip wood growing on the west coast.

@@valeriehenschel1590 It is a first for me in the 15 years I have been doing this.

We have quite a few landscape planted tulip magnolias in Western Washington, but the age and size of the stump you harvested is quite impressive. I was just given some magnolia that grew locally and am looking forward to turning it.

I would cut out some blocks, stabilize them and make knife handles. I would also turn a few cups and maybe some rolling pins.
