This is the beginning of our adventure in learning how to processing black walnuts. They grow abundantly in our yard and in most areas central thru the east coast of the United States. Its always good to have and know how to utilize wild food options. After going thru this I have some great advice: number 1, a pressure washer would just blast all of the hull off... We don't have one.... 2, wear gloves and old clothes because black walnuts stain everything. 3, cutting them open is a slow process if you plan on doing a ton of them...... We will be borrowing a pressure washer from someone next time.
I am excited to crack these babies open and try some out. If you have ever processed black walnuts please let us know how you went about doing it.
On Garden and Grease we share our experiences with developing our backyard homestead. We hope that we can inspire others to use their properties no matter how small or large to grow their own food, raise chickens and live their best life possible. We also like making these videos so that all of our future family generations can see how we lived our life and see where they came from. In a way, through this platform, we can live forever.
We chose the name Garden and Grease because I love gardening and my husband loves cars, Garden... and Grease.
Thank you for watching Garden and Grease
