Perfect just what I was looking for. I have spent too much money in garden centres so decided to build a greenhouse instead to grow all my favourite flowers for the garden 🙏❤️😊

I keep my calibrachoa plants over winter instead of taking seeds I havent tried seeds won't they need bottom heat to germinate? For me it's much easier to just re pot them at the end of the season and over winter them in fresh compost somewhere frost free like a greenhouse or conservatory or even a window sill or spare room etc if you dont have a greenhouse, they are much like geraniums and petunias/fushias, they over winter well, I think you'll have great success that way.

Many of mine come back even left out in the open. I have them in those long, narrow deck rail planters (those with coconut mat liners), and with no care at all through winter, I get about 70% survival. They look great, too. I’m in zone 7b-8a, Raleigh, NC, USA.

I have several calibrachoa plants. A couple are violet, 3 or 4 are yellow/red and one is blue. I could not find any seed pods on any of them. I can find some dried up stems but nothing with seeds. Was really hoping to be able to harvest the seeds as these plants are getting pricier every year.

Unfortunately , Not all Calibrachoa plant varieties produce seeds. Some are sterile, while there are hybrids that will produce seeds without the ability to germinate or grow as their parent’s clones from propagation.

Yes they could. But no harm in trying. We may be surprised to see some beautiful colours.

I collected seeds from double yellow and purple calibrachoa plants three years ago and regrettably, none germinated when I tried this year. I kept them in a plastic film canister indoors. I tried sowing directly on potting media but then even tried germinating them on a paper towel without success. Am curious what your results have been. Did they germinate? We they true to the original mother plant?

I started so many seeds this year and had so many gardening projects that I forgot about these seeds. So I could not start them and it is quite late now but I would still try to grow them to see if they are worth it. So sorry that I am unable to help at this point but I know they are a bit difficult to germinate anyway.

I think the seeds are proprietary (protected by producer of the original hybrid) and sometimes the seeds are bred not to propagate. I believe that taking cuttings for personal use, and wintering inside is okay though. Best of luck.

I don't get seed in my pods. The pods are simply empty. Are these empty ones going to produce seeds or may I just cut them and get rid of such pods? Thank you.

May be you have a variety that does not produce seeds.

How many days will take to germinate the seeds
@GardeningWise
@GardeningWise 2 жыл бұрын
I have tried sowing them 2 times this year once by covering them with thin layer of compost and once by not covering them. But they did not germinate. I will try again next year by stratification to see if that works.
