@darkartsleather55865 жыл бұрын
Seeds are tiny. Weeds can easily over take them, so make starts. Sprinkle them on some soil in a tray, wet them, and cover much the same way Mike covers cuttings. Enough to keep air humid, but also allow some airflow to prevent mold and over-heating. Keep in mind that your seeds probably won't come true, especially if you previously had mixed petunias. The flowers will still be beautiful. :)

That is one beautiful bunch of petunias you have growing! Mike, I've started petunias (from trimming mine when the plants have gotten too leggy) just by sticking them right into the damp potting mix without using rooting hormone. They are super easy to start and grow like gangbusters! Where did you get the yellow fly traps? They really seem to attract the little soil gnats.

Great pair of videos Mike. I took some inspiration from you and took cuttings of some petunias and begonias that were still thriving in planters near my work. That was November 1st. November second dawned with a temp of 23 deg F, so they are dead now except for the cuttings I took. Stuck them per your directions except I used 2 ltr coke bottles for covers (no yogurt containers at my house) Have them in with my lemon tree and other tenders I over winter. Don't know if it will be warm enough for them as it gets down to 45 in there at night. Do I need to put them on a heat mat? Do they need more light than my lemon tree? Thanks for all your videos and inspiration.

There's a range of light and temps they'll take. As long as they're indoors and have some form of lighting they should do fine. No bottom heat required indoors.

Depends on how warm and bright the growing area is. If it's very warm and bright then they will want to grow like crazy and you'll definitely need to up-pot them at some point. You can let them get fairly rootbound without any problems though.

Man I wish I could show you a picture of the petunias I propagated following your steps! They are beautiful! I am so in love with this flower that I went out and got a pot at the nursery that had 2 colors in the same pot. I had no idea I bought supertunia bubblegum and its buddy has a lilac center and white petals. They grow differently! I have an issue though. Since they have been together in the same pot for a while I am scared to separate them (plus they look nice) the lilac blooms are really taking off, but the bubblegum side is only giving me about 4 blooms😢.. there are beautiful green leaves but if feels frozen in time! I gave it some miracle grow 4 days ago. But I can humbly say I dont know what the hell Im doing! I even dead headed about 10 buds because I thought they were seed pods. This was a week and a half ago and still it doesnt take off! HELP!

Water, water, water. Pentunias drink a ton of water. I'd use a slow release fertilizer so you don't have to worry about fertilizer. Then just water often. You could always take some cuttings and move the new plants to a new container.
