My experience with montipora is similar to your scenario. I fragged the healthy parts as it was dying, and they all encrusted onto my live rock, grew out into plates hanging off and everything. I truly think it has something to do with the base it is on.
@BlueReefTank3 жыл бұрын
Someone spotted an sps nudibranch in my red montipora. I think he's right and I think I will have to do a dip tonight! Worst case scenario is I will try to frag it and stick it to my rock hahaha
@michaellash40503 жыл бұрын
@@BlueReefTank I also bought a red monti cap frag, there was a worm thing burrowed inside of it, after months of no growth I violently removed whatever it was and it has grown from an inch to like 5. I also grew out a frag sized piece from a flake so definitely try to regrow a healthy piece and dip the rest
@BlueReefTank3 жыл бұрын
@@michaellash4050 Thanks Michael for the suggestions - I just dipped the monti and it was covered with sps eating monti. I will observe it for now and if it's not getting any better, I will have to frag it 🙁

The tiny white dots are also copepods. There are many different species of copepods like tigriopus californicus (tigger pods) and tisbe biminiensis (tisbe pods). I’m not 100% sure but I think the white dots should be Tisbe pods since they are the smallest species of copepods.

Thanks for the video. Do you have a suggestion on what can I do to remove the sedimental debris if I am to culture them in a really large vessel? I dont really want to use suction as I'd presume the debris will also contain copepod eggs, plus it's too laborous for me.
@leilan50383 жыл бұрын

If you're planning to seed the display tank, I would float the bottle in the display tank first for 15mins so the tempature is equal. I would then pour it in at night so the pods have a chance to hide and not get eaten by the fish
