As a young teenager in the early 70's I drove a brand new Gleaner L with a 24' header...I felt like a God in that machine. I haven't seen a combine in years and years...omg what is that header width and all that electronic stuff on it??? I also helped my grandfather every year on his Gleaner A and it's 12' header...and it's umbrella...good times brother, good times...

Been watching Welker’s drought & hail damaged fields, makes me so sad I came back to rewatch this to remind me it’s not every farmer. Welkers have gotten hammered 2 years in a row, but, that’s farming.

Awesome video! As a farmer myself I understand the frustration of people driving like idiots. They can’t get it through their head of we’ll be done on the road with in 2 minutes 3 max. But anyway I love watching the videos and keep up the hard work of making content for us to watch. It’s amazing!

We used to move about 18 or twenty miles from our home farm to another farm. We had a 2.2 mile stretch that had 4 bridges in that section two lane US highway. Yes people would get mad because we stopped oncoming traffic to get our 5 tractors and our equipment across and the people behind got upset to..

Batteries go bad when they get low electrolyte (distilled water) and will freeze if low charge (Low Specific gravity) and a heater pad helps with winter storage. Get the Napa Solar Battery analyzer to catch dead cells earlier. And a trickle charger for winter storage.

Really nice looking wheat. I guess that answers the question of whether broadcast spreading and scratching it in works:) I sort of knew the answer to that as years ago I worked a farm where we had wheat seed flown on and we dragged pipe over it to settle it. Same for rice.

Thanks for the heads up on the scam in your name. I received one of those goofy messages. On one hand, I’m skeptical about everything on line. On the other, I never win anything and was loath to lose out on something, especially something from BFF. Skepticism won out in the end.

I’m so excited to see all that beautiful wheat! Not just bc of the prices, but this year if American farmers can fill the Ukraine wheat void it’s a life saver. Sri Lanka went “green” farming & now they’re starving. Dutch farmers are fighting against their govt who wants to do the same thing.

I remember when our county average on wheat was around 35 bushels per acre in the 70's I remember in the early 80's we had 1 field of wheat that averaged almost 70 bpa. But, it had been planted on some very excellent cotton ground that year. Wheat shattering, is not good, we occasionally had very bad shattering of soybeans especially in wet falls you could stand in the fields late evening when the wind had laid and hear the pods pop.
