This song is so iconic, this is a true story about a true event with a little poetic licence. I was there in the late 70's and this sums up the feelings of the time

first met harvey at R.A.F. stafford 1968 when he came to entertain at the camp. he lost his guitar thumb pick and borrowed mine. still owes me one. then saw him in germany on tour shortly after, he made the album "freinds of mine" still have his original albums. still played.

I first heard Harvey live at a Liberal Party Conference in Bournemouth 1984. I was not old then but now I am I old I wonder why this talented singer song writer has not yet received his gong???? here's to you Sir Harvey. Bless you.
