Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Andrew Stevens, Actor, Producer, Director & Author
About Harvey's guest:
Today’s guest, Andrew Stevens, is a highly respected actor, writer, songwriter, producer, director, author, educator and film company executive. The fact that he has show business in his blood comes as no surprise, given that he’s the son of screen legend Stella Stevens.
On the big screen, you’ve seen him in “The Boys in Company C”, which earned him a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Male Newcomer, and he also received the Star of Tomorrow award from the National Association of Theatre Owners. He also appeared in “Shampoo”, “The Fury”, “Death Hunt”, “The Seduction”, “Double Threat”, “Pop Star”, “Missionary Man”, and many more.
On TV he appeared in dozens of shows and movies including “Once an Eagle”, “Topper”, “Code Red”, “Hollywood Wives”, “Hotel”, “Dallas”, and many more. He’s also written many screenplays and composed numerous songs for movies and TV shows. He's directed over a dozen feature films, including world premieres on HBO and SHOWTIME, as well as multiple episodes of popular TV series.
But beyond all of that, our guest is one of the most prolific and successful producers in Hollywood. He has co-founded and run numerous film production companies, and is currently President and CEO of Andrew Stevens Entertainment and Stevens Entertainment Group. He’s produced hundreds of enormously successful feature films including “The Whole Nine Yards”, “Angel Eyes”, “The Pledge”, “City by the Sea”, “The Big Kahuna”, “Green Dragon”, “Get Carter”, “The Marksman”, “Black Dawn”, and dozens more.
As an educator, he created a fully accredited Associate of Applied Arts college degree program in Motion Picture Production, which formed the basis of an online certificate program called “Foolproof Film School”, based on his best selling 2014 book entitled, “Foolproof Filmmaking: Make a Movie That Makes a Profit”. His other books are “Producing for Profit: A Practical Guide to Making Independent and Studio Films”, and “Screenwriting for Profit: Writing for the Global Marketplace.”
And if all of that weren’t enough, our guest also serves on the board of directors of the International Film and Television Alliance, and until recently served as Chairman of the Independent Producers Association.

Another winning interview, Harvey! Andrew is a fascinating and multidimensional guy; no wonder being a Teen Beat heartthrob and TV actor was not enough (though he was dreamy and very charismatic on the screen!). He is very cerebral and thoughtful about the art and business of making movies--too smart to be 'just an actor.' Today he is the quintessential a 'silver fox' - as appealing as ever, when he smiles and his eyes twinkle he still melts the hearts of all of us who grew up with him...

Hi Harvey - thanks for this interview. Andrew has aged very well and I found him to be quite articulate about many facets of the film/TV industry and his various roles within it. I once mentioned in a message here to you that your interviewing style reminds me of the late Brian Linehan (1943 - 2004) who was quoted as saying that in an interview, he tried to capture “the whole human being, or the whole career in perspective.” (Source: The Canadian Encyclopedia). You continue to do the same, admirably! Best wishes from Atlantic Canada.

Another great interview Harvey! I had the pleasure of meeting his mother. She was very sweet. As a fan of Sam Peckinpah I asked her about her experiences working with him on "The Ballad of Cable Hogue". She rolled her eyes and said he was nuts! For her it was a love/hate relationship working with him. Andrew did a great guest starring role on "Columbo". I'd love to know what he thought of working with the great Peter Falk.

I remeber him in 1978 in The Fury, he was great, with Amy Irving and Kirk Douglas. Then he married Kate Jackson. Day of the Animals was great, I was a kid. I just always liked the guy, super talented, great looking guy. At 13 watching The Fury he was just a super star to me, and I had a crush on Amy Irving, who was Steven Spielberg's first wife eventually. I guess we all grew up. So happy to see Andrew Stevens doing so well, thanks so much for this interview. His mother was super talented too. Me?
