A very beautiful performance, Kirill, with perfect registration choices on a glorious organ for this serene and reflective 'Meditation' by Harvey Grace (rarely performed today, sadly!). The set of ten compositions it comes from were published in 1922 and as you will see from your copy, this work was dedicated to Arthur Sydney Warrell, who is even less well known by name today than Grace. However, Warrell's setting of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" is still sung and is extremely well known and loved around the English-speaking world. It is believed Warrell sourced the folk song when a young man travelling the country to notate music that was fast disappearing as no other copy of the carol has ever been found. Clearly he was admired by Grace and Warrell himself was a fine organist and academic at Bristol university.

Your playing and registrations are always a joy to listen to. I wasn't particularly moved to meditation by this Grace composition but I did enjoy his book "French Organ Music."

This is so underrated, almost unknown, btw this meditation is one of my "hardest nuts" ever, while studying it for several weeks ,I faced with unexpected, very awkward writing and fingering-choice difficulties, for slow piece it is insanely tricky to put it together well. Futhermore, I could not record it by one attempt entirely, here you can find more than 10 places where all mistakes and imperfections has been mounted from several good parts and attempts
