The girls like Velvet Underground, Beatles, The Doors, Talking Heads, Charly García, Caetano Veloso, ABBA, Los abuelos de la nada, Simon & Garfunkel, Vinicius de Moraes, Lou Reed, Rolling Stones, Sublime, etc. You can go ahead & check if all those artists are "newish" or not. So that's all the comment meant to say, they have good taste when it comes to music in general, for both older and more recent stuff.
