You fight these battles now, when the war rages far from your front door, to prevent the war from ever coming near your home. You fight, and you fight like it's your own battle. I remember loving the first season of this show but then it turned into another "problem of the week" series that shoehorned in relationship issues because of refusing to simply communicate. I randomly stumbled upon this video. This is a simple Department of Labor dispute. A corporate attorney wouldn't get involved. Shutting off the elevators violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). You'd be able to call the fire department to turn them back on within 10 minutes. I'm not in law. They should've just stopped the show at it's peak instead of waiting for it to be milked dry of ideas.

So long as the tenant pays their rent on time, the Landlord has to perform their side of the contract. There is no way a tenant (supposedly a premiere law firm) will react the way they did like "oh well, i guess we cant do anything about this major breach of contract".

Unfortunately, Harvey had the best intentions but the wrong approach. Direct confrontation in this instance doesn't make sense because there is ties between all parties involved. Using an outside man is the best approach because it removes any indication that Harvey, and by extension his firm, were involved. Being a high profile firm, it'd be more realistic to employ subtle tactics to resolve the problem. But the writers would rather have simple drama instead, ignoring the cognitive ability of it's characters.

“People like me don’t matter to people like them” No employee should ever have to say something like that. If I found out I was working for a company that is paying people less than what I am earning or what they are actually worth, I’d be disgusted, I wouldn’t want to work in a place like that

This would never happen in the UK. The cleaning lady could have taken her mum straight to hospital-no questions asked, only ones referring to her health. Money and Greed comes to mind.
