Like every other 90's kid, "Flagpole Sitta" was just part of the atmosphere growing up. That said, I didn't really "discover" Harvey Danger until "Little By Little" started getting talked about for its Internet-savvy distribution model. I was a nerd and thought it was a cool idea so I downloaded it, and was ASTONISHED - this is truly one of the great unheralded albums of the aughts. Every song is exquisite and evokes so many feelings and impressions and images. I'm so happy I stumbled across the album nearly 20 years ago, and I'm delighted now to stumble across this delightful video. I hope more people have the same moments of discovery like I did - Harvey Danger is worth finding!

I really wish I would have come across Harvey Danger sooner. Everyone knows Flagpole Sitta, but it's songs like these that went completely unnoticed. I'd love it if they'd do a tour now, give all the people that didn't realize how amazing they were a chance to see them live! Side note, if they did tour, they would fit so perfectly with the front bottoms, in my opinion at least.

Exposure basically screwed them. Nelson did at least one interview about it - right after their bassist died in 03/16 - where he said that basically that's how they became known - Flagpole Sitta - and it was inescapable. It sucks because it is literally their worst song . It'snot a bad song by any means, but that's how incredibly good they were - every single one of their songs is incredible. Flagpole Sitta just became this song that was kind of the poster child for the late 90s alternative rock scene.

I'm one of those fans who didn't fall in love with Harvey Danger until it was too late to see them live. I would travel far to see them if they ever came back. The good news: Sean Nelson has put out some solo music in recent(ish) years. If you haven't heard it, seek it out! It's all very, very good IMO.

@@Mitchell_E_Underscore I believe he also occasionally performs at small places locally in the Seattle area. Although a tour now would be fantastic!!! He has a beautiful voice. Flagpole Sitta was both a blessing and a curse for them. 💜🖤🥰

I'm similar to others. Like most, I discovered them through American Pie, but by the time LBL came out, I was still too young and too much into my punky stuff to really appreciate it. It really grew on me over time. I don't think there was anything I could have done about it. If I was 10 years older, I would have flown across the world to see them live.

I'm here because I watched the Flagpole Sitta Rock and Roll True Stories video. Never paid them any mind as a band and only ever heard that song. I recently listened to more of their music -- they are really good and I really like the singer's voice and style. This song is quite good.

Their career was an amazing and beautiful thing. I suggest you look everything up. They are *easily* the most underappreciated, genius band of the past 20 years. (There's plenty amazing bands who got their recognition, Harvey Danger just never got theirs)

I've been an artist for decades now, painting, music, stories, I keep chasing this dream and would love to have the experience Harvey Danger has had YET I also know, as I have had some degree of success, it never feels complete. There's a little hole in the middle I can't seem to fill. I look at all these things I've left behind, relationships, jobs, and more, and I long to find something that I loved enough to draw me from that obsessive creativity... but I can't. I haven't. I relate so much with this song. It's been my life's story for awhile. I've tried to put it into words before. Thank you so much for this. So much.

Eric Baker I kind of agree and disagree. If they'd never released Flagpole Sitta, it'd never have appeared in American Pie and us British folk would probably have never heard it and subsequently bought Merrymakers. But yeah, that song far overshadowed their future achievements.

Stew Peters did a documentary called: #TheseLittleOnes. It was about child trafficking, CPS, and the governments involvement with it all. At the end, he played "Flagpole Sitta" with the people who supposedly committed suicide scrolling on the screen while #FlagpoleSitta was playing. I love that song, and it fit perfectly at the end. Glad i found out who played it, finally. Rock on.
