This band and The Toadies were THE most under appreciated bands of the 90's. Fuck, listening to this brings tears to my eyes. The memories...the feelz....I'm 47 and this shit was a staple through my college years.

this song's ability to last, heck this album's ability to last it out despite the mild obscurity of the band, stands in testament to how good the power and meaning behind these songs end up being. Flag Pole Sitta may be a good song, but it's the rest of the album that makes up the soul of it for me.

Just realizing we never paid you thanks, we used this upload to play this song at my best friends wake a couple years back, he had on several occasions said he wanted this song at his funeral, at the party. Thanks for the upload.

One thing I love about Harvey Danger, particularly the first album, is that the bass is often played like a lead instrument.

Found this cd cleaning out the 20+years of dusty shoe box closets clutter while off for coronavirus. One of the most underrated bands of the 90s....lost in the swamp of the one hit wonder movie soundtrack bands in the late 90s/early 2000s. Brings back a dark time in my life AND great memories too. Thank you plague 2020 ! Sounds even better when you grow old enough to graduate from the pioneer rack disk changer to 1100 watts of home theatre...youre welcome neighborhood.

i casually picked up this record a month ago maybe. i put off listening to it until i was in art class one day. the emotion that went through me when this song came on was unbelievable, i never thought i could rock out so hard while drawing a picture. where have all the merrymakers gone is such a fantastic record.

I borrowed this from a friend in middle school. I told him that I thought it was fantastic. He replied "You'll get sick of it." I offered to buy it from him, and he just gave it to me. I listened to this album until last year when my CD book containing this (About 500 Albums) was stolen in a break in. The next day I bought the MP#s from Amazon.

I was 12 when i got this CD and it changed my life, no joke. The pure emotion that this CD, and their songs in general evoke, is wonderful. It may sound mellow or whiney to some but oh my god it is amazing.

Literally one of my top the favorite albums of all time. One of the few I don’t skip a single song on. My 15 y/o self survived some serious stuff listening to WHATMMG on repeat for 6+ years. And I JUST FOUND WHATMMG ON VINYL.

The only reason why this song doesn't have more views is because you HAVE to listen to it all the way through. It is too good to only view the first 45 seconds of it. This is when music was at it's finest!

I was one of those people that thought they were a one hit wonder with Flagpole sitta, but it wasn't until I took the time to sit down and listen to their other songs that I realized the genius to Harvey Danger. It's like Nirvana where people thought their songs were crazy and didn't form songs. Truth is, emotions are stupid and they are impossible to put into words sometimes. Harvey Danger did a good job translating emotions better. Probably because his emotions weren't as intense as Kurt's.

Haven't listened to this album in a couple years...still just as great as I remembered it. I discovered them around Christmas time probably 5 or 6 years ago, so I tend to listen to them this time of year...weird the way you associate certain bands with when you discovered them. Powerful stuff.

I discovered this band in the summer of 1998 when their hit single for this album 'Flagpole Sitta' was getting heavy rotation on the radio and on MTV's TRL coundown. Sadly I never took a chance on this album like I did with other bands of that era but here I am now 24 years later and I just placed my order for a used copy of this album on Ebay. What an amazing album this is and I just wish I had made it a part of my life when I was younger.

Such a beautiful song. I wonder though, am I the only one who thinks he hears Death Cab for Cutie in this music? I mean, I know Harvey Danger came before Death Cab, but damn, they sound so similar in the beginning. I know, they were good friends an all. Still. THIS IS AWESOME!!!! :D
@dusty20802 жыл бұрын
I know this is ten years old but if you were still wondering, Death Cab cited Harvey Danger and Sean Nelson (Harvey Danger's lyricist and singer) as a major influence (Nelson even performed with them for a while as a keyboardist and singer

If rocking out hard is your sole function in listening to music, I hate to tell you - actually I don't - you have no business listening to 90% of music. If you want to rock out hard, listen to a shitty rock band that's mainstream. Harvey Danger is visceral, emotional, sophisticated, expertly crafted, and fucking beautiful. Rocking out is not their goal - their songs have meaning and they have long lasting effect. I've had this album for 14 years and it is god damn amazing to this day.

Having a nonverbal episode right now. Not sure what adulthood is gonna be like. I hope it's fun. I'm back in Miami In the uber On the way to our hotel After the flight from Guatemala City got cancelled, we didn't know how the hell we would make it back to Seattle. 7 people got stuck in Guatemala for the night But the 21 rest of us lucky bastards got a trip to Florida That airport was the first time I shoplifted something. A bag of chips. I couldn't eat them so I gave them to my friend. The subway workers didn't speak a lot of english So I felt guilty afterward Oh well I'll have bigger problems soon enough
