I disagree on the tapered bracelet idea. I own watches where some are tapered and others that are the same width all the way round. Having a non-tapered bracelet will give the watch much, much better weight distribution and helps stop the constant pull and rotation of the watch head on the wrist. This is one point I am firm on. The second hand background is silver and would look much better balanced if the background is the same colour as the remaining dial. I also am a big fan of having at least a date complication, perhaps even a day & date complication.

Great video, but what do you think about this watch against the prx. They are similar and even if the prx is pretty much better all around I think , is it 2x times better for the price which is doubled? I’m trying to understand if the extra 400euros are worth it or just mainly branding.

Thank you. The PRX is arguably a better watch (80 hours of power reserve, better bracelet) but this is by far the better deal. If it were my money I would go for this one, although be wary of the bracelet issue

Size looks perfect to me, and I actually prefer the revised bracelet, especially the taper. What I’m not sure is if I prefer the recessed crown in the previous version. Otherwise, the new dial and small seconds definitely elevate this Citizen way above its class and price point. Great review!

ETA/Peseux 7001 with Côtes de Genève Engraving and Blued Screws ... Milles ahead of this citizen. For me the biggest turn off is the 8 series and the price point, the dial is fabolous though. Would pay 350 , but for almost 600 naaaah, can get 9 series or even 9 series GMTs for that money with refined bracelets.

Thanks Olivier, it's got a lovely dial but +17spd is far too much for a watch costing nearly €400 retail. I'm over the integrated bracelet fad at this stage so maybe that's why I'm less than excited about this. My 6 Ali Express watches all have better time keeping than this.

Does seem odd to have a quick release system if you have a proprietary bracelet unless you're planning on offering more straps/bracelets. I do think at 37-38mm this watch would be a huge winner. That dial is amazing.

I hate the bracelet. Looks like they just didn't want the Tissot style flat links (which look so good) since the watch head resembles Tissot since people would have called them out for copying. I hope Citizen comes up with other color leather straps for this. The Dial is otherwise gorgeous.

To me the small seconds being a different color than the main dial is a misstep. I love small seconds, but prefer them understated. This small seconds subdial is too loud (on a dress watch). Also, Citizen, dress watch at 40 mm is not right. Make it 37-38 mm. For reference, I have a 7.25" wrist, 2.25" projected on flat surface (the latter is really the only wrist measurement that matters).

Nah, I really I like the original Tsuyosa. But this new one dues nothing for me. The old bracelet was perfectly fine, why did they feel the need to bulk it up and to make the polished parts way more prominent? I also think the guilloche doesn't suit this kind of watch. It's worth noting that Miyota 8 series keep great time when you regulate it well.

Yes it does, and it's a real workhorse, the kind to last 30 years without maintenance. This one is more refined and is not as noisy as the 8210

The biggest flaw of this watch is - like with most affordable "sports watch" or "GADA" or "ingrated bracelet" watches, its height. Without the bracelet, the Tsuyosa looks just like any other hockey puck genta-inspired watch. If the affordable brands were able to shave off 3-4mm of those I'd buy one but 12mm is a diver... I always get excited when I see the watches from a top angle, and disappointed from the side or below because I then see that "hanging belly" case back. Only brand I can think of right now who manage to make the case actually as flat as it looks are Formex with their Essence model...

@@asdfyxcv1100I’m not saying the Formex is overpriced, but besides the name on the dial, there are usually- to an extent - reasons why a watch costs 5 times another watch. It’s kinda like laptops, the thinner and lightweight they are, the more they cost. Sophisticated engineering does not come for free. It’s like whining because a random 300 bucks laptop is heavier and thicker than a 1,5k MacBook Air. I mean this Citizen comes at half the price of the Tissot PRX, has the same materials, an equally complex dial pattern and an honest mechanical movement, I don’t really know what we can desire more (apart from other colors). Yes it could be a little thinner and yes it could be 38mm instead of 40 but come on, its price for value is FAR better than the PRX or any other Genta watch type with similar specs.

@@kennethg9277 We all have different preferences and wrists / hands. I for one have massive palms compared to the length of my fingers together with a slim but wide wrist. My Orient Kamasu which sits at 41.8mm looks small when I'm wearing it. I'm essentially a very stubbily and wide built man, I would look crazy wearing anything below a 40mm watch. We don't all have the same body and therefore can't fit the same clothes, same principle.

This watch doesn't really speak to me, wish they had made the lugs a bit wider to square up the case a bit, moved the crown to 3 o' clock or 4 o' clock and then skipped the small seconds in favor for a traditional seconds hand. The dial pattern is awesome but the small seconds ruins it for me. I also think the bracelet is a downgrade minus the butterfly clasp, so many weird decisions made when it comes the design on this thing.

Stamped guilloche (as in all low costs watches) costs nothing. Guilloche is only remarkable, when it's cut. So, the price comparison due to that is not valid.

@@Horologique It looks like Cartier tank must xl's bracelet. The only movement that annoys me among my watches is cheap citizen watch. Always 1 to 2 minutes off a week. With that price range, they can definitely put higher movement but too bad.
