I am fortunate to have a small eight watch collection, my favourite is my late Fathers 1972 Seiko 5 with a blue face, my Mother purchased it with her first Salary working for MOD which was remarkable as she had Polo from three years old and spent her life in a Wheelchair, being a Woman in the 1970s in MOD was hard enough as it was, I had the watch serviced and cleaned, and it looks like new. ❤

Idk I wouldn't consider an IWC Portugieser Chronograph to be a watch you "should just buy" without a second thought... It looks a lot like a fashion brand watch and doesn't have any chronograph / racing / space history like many other chronos at lower and higher price points.

I went for the Shunbun about 1.5 years ago and while I still often wish that it was a bit more pink it is a fantastic watch. Dornbluth sounds pretty cool, and had not heard of Royter before but now I am interested!

I wish I could live without one since no date dials look better for the most part. Unfortunately, when I wear a no date watch I keep looking at it for the date all day and get frustrated. There is no universal truth in this debate. You either want one or don't.

I liked Tudor until I saw David Beckham leering from a Tudor display in a jewellers shop window. I assume he squeezed that advert in, between shilling for Nespresso and now Walkers Crisps! He reminds me of the main character in “The New Statesman”, Alan B’stard, played by the late great Rik Mayall. I know all about Beckham’s amazing football and financial accomplishments, but I’m not sure that I would see his bank account or address book as something to drool over! Is that really aspirational for you? It leaves me feeling dead inside 😆 He has chosen exceptional advisors, but even he hasn’t achieved his (apparently) greatest desire - to grovel at the feet of the diminutive King Charles! I just find the association with discarded crisp packets and spent coffee pods very unfortunate. Tudor grandees obviously know what they’re doing and this will appeal to more potential customers than it alienates. For me, Eric Cantona, a gifted footballer and now an accomplished actor would have been a much better choice. In writing this, I have just remembered that “Tudor Crisps” was a brand of potato crisps produced by Tudor Food Products, until a take over by PepsiCo killed it off. Maybe the marketing team at Tudor watches was keen to establish a relationship with a popular, unhealthy snack after all!
