Yeah… Dallas’s biggest weakness wasn’t a “No. 2 option”. It’s the reason they got clowned by Kevon Looney in the WCF: rim protection and and size. Sure, losing Brunson hurts but as far as a No. 2 option is concerned, you’ll likely have Spencer Dinwiddie move up in the rotation and he played very well for Dallas in the short time he’s been there. As he takes on the starting role (and enters that second year post-ACL tear which is where you really see players come back from that injury), you’ll see his numbers go up. But more importantly, Dallas completely overhauled their big-man rotation going from Dwight Powell and Willie Cauley-Stein to JaVale McGee and Christian Wood. Dwight was so bad that he was played off the floor. The starting center for the Mavs played 7 minutes/game in the conference finals. Christian Wood, who’s a much more well-rounded offensive player than Powell/WCS/Kleber and McGee, a solid rim-running and rim-protecting big, gives Dallas another dimension to their game they didn’t have last year. They brought back the pick-and-roll… the most essential and fundamental play in basketball which was rendered useless last season because of inept bigs clogging the paint. You’ll also see THJ coming back who is a shooter/slasher/above-average defender. And then there’s Luka who practically hasn’t stopped balling since the playoffs ended and is looking like he’s in shape for this upcoming season. It’s a huge stretch to say that Dallas got worse this offseason but hey if expectations towards them are low, it’s easier to blow people away.
@brycenhitt23832 жыл бұрын
people are thinking the mavs are going to be so much worse, but I honestly think they improved the team. Brunson wasn't insane during the regular season, people only started paying attention to him during the playoffs when Luka was hurt. I would take a solid big man core over Brunson all day long.

Kenny I suggest you do the "One Conference Rebuilding Challenge" Basically you spin the wheel for East or West then you go to each team from that conference and select a player. The selection is a random number generator and which ever number you get thats the player on the roster you get. The twist is you also have to use the number generator to see which player you have to give up for the player on the other team(You can use trade override). One all the trades have been done, if you have any person that was originally on the team you spin the wheel of overalls( It goes from 75-78,79-82,83-86,87-90,91-94,95-98). You then spin the east or west again and choose which player you want. Once finished you start rebuilding.

It can be big names or small names, so by the time a full year passes you will have seen at least 45-50 of the prospects trying to get drafted. For example… you could start with reacting to Victor Wembanyama and asking your subscribers to comment who should be next.

6:30 the mavs clearly had no long term plan with jalen Brunson considering they traded their second best player for spencer dinwiddie, who plays the same position. If you ask me jalen Brunson was the guy to keep out of the two, but with them both there neither really had the chance to shine. Therefore the mavs had to make a decision, and getting rid of the player that you just traded your second star for just doesn’t seem like a good business option. That’s my view

Celtics - Playmaking. Smart isn't enough of a playmaker on his own, and the frontcourt already has Grant Williams playing some 4 and 5 minutes whereas Smart's backup is only Pritchard (no offense to PP but he's not that guy). Mavs - Rim Defense. They have Kleber coming off the bench who is just an occasional defender, and Powell as the starter who is just makes occasional appearances on the court after the first quarter. Next tall guy is Bertans who couldn't even do the only thing he's supposed to do on the court (hit shots). Adding CWood adds offensive punch and star power to the frontcourt but if he doesn't play good defense, the Warriors can cook them again especially now that Luka and Dinwiddie need to take more offensive load in the backcourt with Brunson gone.
@mugsby79622 жыл бұрын
Not enough thought was put on the Warriors one in this article. Answer's obvious, it was rim protection. The Warriors had to literally bend over backwards to get even defensive rebounds, it was such a monumental effort, and even rim protection was rough against Ja and Jalen Brown. With Wiseman, everyone can take a breather, Draymond knows he has help, and it also put pressure on the rim on offense. Wiseman was the easy answer for the Warriors.

The Clippers are going to be good if John Wall, Kawhi and PG13 stay healthy they been really injury prone in the last couple of years and the Raptors my team really needed bodies and with getting Otto Porter and Bo Cruz (Juancho Hernangomez) I feel that fixed the problem

Ngl just thinking of PJ Tucker, Harden, and Embiid on the same team just sounds like drama city. Wouldnt be surprised if 76ers were actin up in game every now and then.

Maybe my perspectives tilted now that we made the Rudy trade, but seems like the Wolves biggest need was rim protection which has been absolutely been addressed. Plus, KAT is now our starting 4 even if he’ll still play some minutes at the 5. KAT/Andersen at the 4 & Mcdaniels/Prince at the 3 seems like great wing depth imo, and now Ant can bully 2’s instead of 3’s
@tj51802 жыл бұрын
Even tho gobert trade ruined the value of trades in today's league. It wasnt a bad move as u said about his rim protection and kat playing at the 4. People say they lost the trade cuz of their permieter defense with beavrly andJander but they still have jaden mcdaniels and naz Reid, dlo is a above average defender and ant is a good defender

My Team is the hawks. We needed Defense. with a emphasis on the perimeter, with ofc having Ice Trae it was ass, added murry was a good addition even though we gave up hella picks for the future. i think once a few weeks/games go by and our 2 guards mesh well. it’ll be fine. “Its not a finesse if you win the championship”🤣🤣

Yeah I think you at least need a backup point guard with defense like caruso

The clip of twitter spaces of that warriors fan freaking out about donte divencio is so funny. I swear warriors fans are the dumbest and youngest in the league. He cannot replace anything that Gary or Otto brought. It could be a rude awakening without Gary. Dudes a top 10 guard defender in the nba imo. Same with mavs fans. Christian wood could be a rude awakening for them as far as how he doesn’t care about anything as long as he has stats. Everyone who has watched him play in the last 3 years knows this. Dudes a typical diva.

In my opinion, the Suns' biggest problem was 3pt shooting. If you look at the roster, none of the guys are super great 3pt shooters, albeit some are pretty good, and they ranked as one of the lowest in the league when it came to 3pt attempts/game, and if I remember correctly they were the lowest out of the top 4 seeds in both conferences, could be mistaken though. This defect didn't really matter in the regular season but it showed a lot in the post season where a fiery hot 3pt team in the Mavs was able to take the lead very quickly with their dominance from beyond the arc in the last game, meanwhile not a single player could make a 3 for the Suns. And it wasn't just that game either, that's just the game where it stood out the most. They were efficient when they did take 3s, but so were the Bulls for a good period of time. Efficiency doesn't really matter if it's on such low volume

Us Warriors need size and we're a bit broke-ish so it's hard for us to get some. With the signings we did make this off-season, I ain't too mad at it. Wish we could get bigger, though + it's a shame we lost so many players even tho only 2 of them were usable.

The young core need to improve and step up with the loss of the players we lost. Can't wait for the young core to play for games and get synergy in the team
