Reason Utah is good is because they play with so much energy every night. One thing every team can control is the energy they play with and they’re one of the few who bring it. Team is so fun to watch, they had 39 assists two games ago and it shows how deep they are. A true underdog story, will they make playoffs? Probably not, but they’re super fun to watch right now. Clarkson is so underrated and he became a playmaker now. Also, Lauri will be an all-star.

As a Pels fan, to put context to LM’s performance for the Jazz, he scored 20 in the first half against us mainly off of easy shots under the rim (cooked us in P&R) and making all his free throws. In the 2nd half we adjusted our defense but he had plenty of confidence at that point, and made some hard shots to finish the game at 31 pts

I think talking about Lauri as if he’s gonna be Dirk or something after a few games is beyond ridiculous…but hopefully he stays healthy this season and plays efficiently. He’s shooting poorly from 3 so far this yr (obv tiny sample 4g) so he needs to get that up. 24.1% on 7.3att. I don’t see all star upside for him, but if he can be a 37%+ 3P shooter on good volume, (like 5-6att) continue to improve finishing at the rim, (he’s been crazy at the rim so far in 4g lol) continues to get to the line more, (4.5att so far which is good) be able to keep the ball moving by making the easy pass, and ideally develop some kinda in between game (even like an 8-14 footer) he can definitely become at the very least a very good role player who contributes to winning and has a super long career assuming health. That’d be awesome for him. Obv being able to space the floor is key at his size since he’s not an elite defender especially if he can do it on high volume. Maybe numbers like 18-19 but more like 52%+ 2P and 37% 3P. If he can do that and sustain it he’ll be awesome.

For the 76ers it’s going to balance out, it’s just bc Embiid has been struggling to find his legs. He was injured in the off-season and therefore he came into this season out of shape but it will start to even out. Also I’m excited for what I’m seeing, when Harden and Embiid are on the court Harden was moving off-ball alil and I don’t here anyone talk about the fact Harden is taking mid-range shots again. I know they tend to lean on iso when Embiid went to the bench but hopefully as Embiid gets back to normal and everyone gets more comfortable, hopefully they do less and less iso and more pick n roll / pick n pop, and more off-ball movement and plays. I think we have been horrible on defense which will not continue but that’s a big reason we’re 0-3. I have been impressed with Harden bc as far as I can remember a team that runs iso ball has never won a ring, playoffs slow down and it becomes predictable and easy to stop. And when Embiid and Harden are playing at a high level their pick n roll is so hard to stop. Very impressed by the mid-range and off-ball movement.

If the nba most improved player award went to guys who improved the most instead of guys who got the best then I think grant Williams would have a great case for it. He’s an incredible shooter and somehow got even better at it, is still an incredible defender, but now he’s added to his bag and has been scoring off of the dribble when he gets the ball instead of always taking the open 3 and he’s been great at it. I got back into the kings as a kings fan back in 2017, ever since then I keep getting my hopes up but keep getting crushed, I'm not giving up on them yet but if this season keeps being like how it has been this first 3 games, I might have to take another break..
