Has God Called Me to Write?

I just want to say thank you pastor John and to the entire team at Desiring God. Because of this video I came to realize I had been believing a very deceptive lie from the enemy these past 5 years, which was "Don't share your Christ centered writings or poetry because it would be boastful to share your gifts". I thought I had been exercising humility these past few years but now realize although my heart was in the right place I was actually believing a lie from Satan. I have been so blessed by your ongoing faithful ministry and this video shined so much light and while listening felt the Holy Spirit breaking a chain to let me walk freely in this calling to write. I pray all of your families and ministry continue to be blessed in mighty ways as you all continue to use your gifts to glorify Christ and share Him with the world. 🙏🕇☝️☝️☝️📖

Thank you. I was given dreams by God to write and in the dream I was in an historical library 📚 and I was handed a book. So now I share my dreams , visions, scriptures, experiences etc I also had a dream I found a book and I opened it. It said “Award winning writer” praise the Lord Jesus 😊

So, is it not possible for someone to be called to write fiction? Like Sci-fi or mystery novels? Is there not a call for people to be creative storytellers?

At the end of the day if it’s compelling like he said then it could be a calling. I’m saying this based on my own passions. There’s nothing more compelling than Basketball to me so I feel like it is a calling from God

It’s possible! As long as the message somehow gives glory to the Father in some way. You can definitely put a lot of interesting spins on that while writing.

Yes there definitely is. God created us to be creative. I'm currently revising my first YA sci Fi/fantasy novel. I'm praying for God to pave the way for the way to publishing. :)

I honestly have no idea. I imagine it takes quiet a while to get through a lot of the questions since there are a lot of people all over the world that send through questions. Some questions might have already been answered in previous episodes. Try searching on this KZbin channel to see if your question might have already been covered before. Whenever I come across a passage I do not understand in the bible or have a question, between "Look at the book" and "Ask Pastor John" I usually find what I am looking for. I hope that helps.
