It's time to take on Hockenheim again on #iracing this time in the Ferrari GT3. This one was a big challenge as my pace falls away through the race, and I come under big pressure from behind!!

Biggest thing I noticed was you tend to carry a little to much speed into the corner. To adjust for this you are adding lots of additional steering angle into the corner. Watch each laps T1, you slowly add more and more lock. This added steering lock is cooking the fronts. This extra heat causes you to get into the ABS in the brake zones (white lights on dash). These two things heavily work the tire and your pace will massively suffer. Long story short- apex speed,less steering lock, stay out of ABS. =) Great race!

One thing karters are really good at is momentum. A major portion of your problem is you're putting in far too much steering input overheating the tires and possibly braking too late. Something to work on that will help your tire conservation as well is keeping your steering inputs at a minimum. Moving your brake bias back and letting the car rotate on the brakes and keeping that wheel as straight as possible on exit specifically will do wonders for both your exit speed and your tire wear! I've spent countless hours in the Ferrari GT3 evo and IMHO it's one of the hardest cars to drive and get a good handle on. Sometimes I don't even bother with it.

I'm glad you didn't have the chat on. I (Cristelli) had some choice words for the guy who punted me on lap 6. I actually got tagged going into the hairpin right before that. I just barely saved it, but lost a position and ended up with a slow exit, which led to the incident you showed. I was pissed. He had no right to go for that apex. He was just betting on me backing off the corner.

Ah mate in that context you did very well to be patient on the rejoin. I didn’t get a chance to see the earlier battle but that’s a big shame it cost you a great result.

All the Ferrari troubles you explained, I experienced exactly the same. My braking points that were pretty solid all through practice and qualifying, suddenly didn’t work after a few laps of the race. I had a little bit of contact from drivers behind, which I wondered might have given me some light aero damage - even though the two contacts were both 0x. Stopping and turning at the hairpin was a lottery! I was probably only 1 split lower than this, but the pace was about 1sec a lap slower! Glad I wasn’t in this one… I’d have been destroyed! Great effort in managing your race well and getting a decent result in adversity 👍

I myself find that the Ferraris are a bit looser now with changes made since the last big patch at the beginning of the season, but you seemed to handle it quite well. I mean, you were the top Ferrari in the race. :) The Porsches made a good showing, this race. Interesting. Maybe I should give them another try. Also, that's the first time my name came up in a video (other than in my grandson's videos), even in this manner. Was a fun surprise. :) Thanks to you, as well, Ben.

Looked like a tense race, but some great defensive driving again. Nice and clean. Well done, considering you were preoccupied with trying to work out why you felt the car was off the pace.

Love this track for GT3 , the Porsche was far easier to keep speed with. I struggled with the Ferrari , just wouldn’t rotate

I just did a race in the gt3 challenge to and the car really gets slower every lap. Needed to brake earlier and the slow corners are really hard to predict.

Hey Gilles - yeah I think I significantly underestimated this, and then compounded it by feeling the pressure of the cars behind, so pushed too hard on fading tyres. A downward spiral!!

I was driving the bmw. Same times as you. Was first gt3 in a long time so i was surprised as well , the tires i expected but the braking diffrence surprised me . Gonna add you on iracing. Maby we end up in same races. I drive f3 a lot to. Stil love your video’s , really hope you get more subscribers ! I would dream of a own channel. But having time is the issue hah. I drive with a esport team in belgium. And i’m driving the virtual belcar in the clio cup and the sprint races. If you search for virtual belcar you can find it. Is a fun league to do and not to expensive.

I recommend think if you really want to improve, iracing was A LOT more fun before I got into top split officials. It's a lot more pressure and takes considerably longer practice periods. I totally understand the concept of a second account to "not care" about.

if you changed the brake bias to the rear by 1 or 2 clicks, then the understeer was minimum

Your LF ran hotter than all the others throughout the second half. It was 10% higher than the others at times.

@@Ben_LaBroca i tried on this track also the audi...but i prefer the oversteer of the Ferrari...did you try to move the brske bias while the tyres drop? And also i noti ed thwt maybe you turn too much in some corner... This scrub The tyres, overheat them and consumes them more. Try to reduce the understeer changing the ingress and rotate the car more using the throttle.

Nice defensive work and fair play from the drivers around you for keeping it relatively clean. It's hard to give you advice without your pedal and steering input, it almost looked like you weren't quite at the threshold on the brakes, I can see the ABS cutting in but not excessively and your tires look a tad warm at the front. Those could be enough to reduce your confidence in the car 🤔

Well, that must have been quite intense in the cockpit. Don't play iRacing but, from what I read online, from lap 6 tyres seem way overpressured and slightly hot.
