I use drills for quick lifting any scissor style jacks. Impacts tear scissor jacks up quickly

Just found your channel. Great content. Thank you! I have purchased this same transmission jack from HF for dropping a 32RH automatic transmission, but am unsure where to place it beneath the transmission. I'm hesitant to place it at the transmission pan. Any suggestions? thanks!

I live this sizor jack...I replaced a honda accord and a chevy S10 transmission...no problem...I did put a piece of OBS wood attach to the top with 4 screws to hold the oil pan...no problem...all by my self 👍

I just changed the transmission in my yj . I used a floor jack transmission adapter that a bought about 8 years ago and I’ve hated everything about that adapter . After watching this video I want to go get this tool just to have it for the next time I have to pull a transmission or transfer case . The floor jack only has two swivel wheels on the rear and weighs around 100 pounds just by itself . The adapter also sits very high at its lowest point . I’ve pulled the transfer case 3 times in the last three weeks and the transmission once . I’m definitely going to buy this tool, thanks for the great video and review!

That's what I was thinking too. I watched the youtube review of the transmission adapter for floor jacks and it sits so high, that it is not practical for a pickup on floor jacks. What a joke for $60. This Harbor Freight tranny jack looks good for $129.99. When I was in high school one of us just he manned the transmission up there, and the other guy put the bolts in. It sucked (I was the one holding the tranny up).

mine worked fine until I tightened the ratchet down at which point the top spread enough in the back that the rollers for the scissor more or less fell out of the track so I welded a piece of flat bar across it, stayed together after that and worked pretty good

Got one. Used it on my YJ to do the internal to external clutch slave swap... Highly recommended swap.

I should have bought one. I used my motorcycle jack. Having all four wheels swivel would have made it so much easier! Also be really good for removing the transfer case

It you do not too much of a load on it, it works great! I had to weld gusset on mine to keep the casters from bending!

I recommend rubber on the top surface, with transmission fluid it just slides all over and you definately have to separate the t case. I couldnt slide the transmission under my xj on the transmission jack which means you need to lift it onto the jack whilst under the vehicle

The issue with using a drill is friction.. Slow speed, low friction / low heat. High speed, higher friction. The sudden drop is definitely another good point, but if you use a drill on low speed (low trigger pull) you'll reduce the friction and avoid the drop. Good rule of thumb for any screw drive tool, if you're going to skip the warning to not use power tools, the best you can do is use them on slow speed and keep the friction lower.

I have a cat bar a piece of 2x6 and a Mac tools low profile HD jack, just installed a transmission, then the transfer case in a zj, one hand to balance, one hand to align, feet run the jack handle! All alone and the jobs gotta get done!

From experience, I say the tilt feature is a necessity as well as good casters,, well really any safe maneuverability is key to reinstalling a transmission easily. I used a rental transmission floor jack. I struggled the most when I couldn't tilt my jack any further and my driveway is kind of rough for the small wheels it had. That ratchet strap I wish the jack had instead of chains since I never seemed to get it fully settled- kept having to readjust. So I suppose this would be the view from a more expensive jack on a not smooth driveway. I wish you luck on reinstallation

Anyone find raising this transmission to be difficult? Currently have a pry bar to raise the platform. The jacks gets less than halfway up and then bogs down with extreme resistance. I think if I force it, I'll damage the jack. Lowering and attempting again and am still met with resistance.

I can't get the saddle tilt to stay put no matter how hard I tighten the wing nuts... The weight of the transmission is just too much for that cheap wing nut set up. Either that or I just got a faulty one but other than that it's a great lift.

Lifting the transmission down... But it won't go all the way down. Any ideas? When I bought it it was in the down position. Now I gotta take the transmission off of it while it's still under the Jeep, and sorta slide it off the jack. 🤔😅 any ideas?

I picked up one at a garage sale so it doesn't have as nice a strap. other than that it's the same and I've used mine to pull transmissions and gas tanks and even installing a read diff. and when i do the front suspension on my jeep I'll be using it again. it has a lot of uses. it really came in handy when i was pulling the long gas tank on my ford pickup. that moving any direction lets you position it quickly when things start going south on ya.

This jack is my jack of last resort... Sometimes I find it easier bench press the tranny back to where it goes.

I know this is older content but my recent experience with this jack is that is sucks! Big Time. Working on an '08 Nissan Frontier 5sp manual, 2 WD. The heavy duty strap. Good quality however that ratcheting buckle is so big once the transmission the in place you can't release it. 2nd, the cradle is so flimsy if you tighten the strap to any degree the sides splay out. Actually had one of the bearings fall out. With the transmission on the jack getting it to lift the initial 1" or so is extremely hard. Hate this thing.

Its not the screw jack,its the manufacturing,its harbor freight remember? every 10 dollar harbor freight tool has a twin in the real world for 40 dollars (I'm using prices (subjectively), That cute aluminum jack whose arms like to spread and drop the load they sell for 80 dollars, (one of which i actually own) has a doppelganger out there for several hundreds dollars thats the real thing,lol, you just have to be cautious when using anything from them.
