I agree. To eye it looks too narrow, the rails too low and no means of tilt or spin to compensate for unlevel ground or misalignment to the flywheel axis. You make me want to design something that could be fabricated locally. Thanks, WW.

I got the scissor stye from HF for $130 + tax. Got the job done, but the truth is, pulling an auto trans with the vehicle on jack stands is a miserable job.

Perhaps they show the jack perpendicular to the vehicle is that they were intending that for a transverse mounted drivetrain 🤷‍♂️

That is a good thought.... I didn’t put much thought into that as I try to avoid pulling transverse transmissions.... more parts to pull on average and more of a pain.

Modify the tilt handle to accept a socket , so you can crank it under load.

Cut it square from the bottom and use a washer welded from bottom. I’m in the same ordeal.

These jack adapters are only good for small transmission in sedans like Civics, Corollas and Accords.

that jack is same as harbor freight Pittsburgh. Anyway.. about to do same thing but only transfer case... Can one spin the turn handle off and red locktight it? Same for the nut at end of all thread. can the bar stock with hole it it that the allthread goes into come out for access to the weld around top of that fat pin? I dont have hole saw or a saber saw...... got figure out a way to grind that inner weld off (have grinder- but maybe that will have not fit in there to grind the weld out anyway... The old shoulders of mine can not just heave how a T-case into place... let go of one hand and thread something w/out it dropping on my empty-ish cranium or ribs lol. Granted cEventually someone will smell it and come drag away my meat and bones if I tried.

@@coachgeo, I did go over some of this in the sequel to this video, where I pulled a 4x4 trans and transfer case with this. I ran a roll pin through the handle and I think used a jam nut on the lower end. I pulled the trans and transfer case as one assembly, but if one were pulling just the transfer case I think it would work ok, and at least make sure the neighbors don’t have to put up with a bad smell before emergency services discovers you. As fas as getting in there to the weld, the parts that need to come off to access it don’t really come off. A dremel might fit in there, or a long grinding attachment on a drill. Might take a while, but it could work.

@@wrenchwranglers yes I saw it.... I dont have tooling to put in a roll pin or use the jig nor a saber saw... hence my questions above. Sorry for not being clear on that. drat on those parts not coming off... figured there was method to your madness on why you didn't go that route yourself

@@wrenchwranglers now that I think about it.... will explore, after cutting off the post- just drilling a hole in each corner for bolts and nut/bolt it on. No messing with trying to get that center out. maybe will need thread the holes drilled into the bracket Jack's pad threads into.

@@coachgeo that could work. You’ll lose the ability to spin the top relative to the jack below it, but for lightweight uses that should work ok.
