Doubt there's a plan, most people couldn't be arsed with religion, regardless of which one it is, most churches will be tourist centres in a few hundred years. "Here is where some humans came to perform there rituals. Most of them no longer exist and it eventually died out."

Im not Cathloic and the Catholic Churches abuses are well documented but secularism has brought about terrible abuses, look at the promotion of lgbt ideology, the transgender promotion to Children is horrific. The difference is the Cathlolic Churches has shown remorse for its crimes with a view to change, secularists see there crimes as a neccessary progressive steps for all our children.

There should never be any religion that is bound to any state. A modern example is Iran another example was Ireland 30 years ago. Its not healthy and absolute power always corrupts. Ireland should have had a variety of faiths with no one choice but the Catholic church were always good at moving into countries when the colonialists left .

There is a suspicion of people who are younger and Catholic, that I agree on. But we, or at least I don't have that towards my friends of different faiths. I would have the view of the Catholic Church like any of the big political parties in ireland and view the upper governing part of the church thusly. But in saying that I do think ireland has a small town mentality in that suspicion of that which is not of the general concensus with suspicion. the nail that sticks out gets hammered, comes to mind.
