We're not giving up oil because at current trajectories in China and with the reality of access to and location of minerals required for large scale renewable energy production and storage, Western civilisation can only dominate with an economy continually based on fossil fuels- not survive or even thrive - dominate. I was a very active campaigner for the labour party until Kier starmer was appointed as leader, but even then I was still going to vote for them in a general election. Not now, there's no chance I'll vote for a party that hasn't called for a ceasefire! Even if they change their stance now it wont change my mind on voting for labour. Exactly, he wasn't suddenly shouting at her, he happens to be fairly loud and passionate from the moment he started speaking to her, she realised her comment was shocking and then tried to deflect it by saying "can you stop shouting at me" and "Why have you lost your temper" So typical to then use the defence that he is a man who is raising his voice towards a woman. He spoke the same volume all the way through, the fact she tried to defend her obvious scandalous comment by trying to make him out as being aggressive towards her says it all!

I may not be muslim, but the Labour position on this ongoing slaughter is so disappointing, disgusting even. 'The right to defend itself' is a phrase that rings increasingly hollow in the face of the ongoing killing and destruction being meted out to thousands of innocents. Starmer has 2 issues- fear of being labelled anti-semitic like his predecessor (especially after working so hard to prove he's not) and reluctance of a likely future PM upsetting the American position of ongoing unequivocal support for Israel's government. It would be so refreshing to see a UK leader not being afraid and not being reluctant to do the right thing and stand against this horror. The wait continues...

As leader of the opposition his job is to challenge the policy of the Tories and hold them to account but he's singing from the sane hymn sheet. He has failed to represent the overwhelming sentiments of Labour voters in demanding a ceasefire. He has failed on so many levels. Israel cutting off water, food and fuel is blatantly illegal. For Starmer to support that act then dropping in a weak comment that "everything should be done within international law" is outrageous. Israel was breaching international law. Starmer failed to call it out, then continued to repeatedly support Israel. We all know Israel has the right to defend itself. Bombing civilians is not an act of self defense. The fact that Starmer used to be a human rights lawyer just makes it worse. He knows he's backing crimes.
