If those reference tracks never got leaked, Drake wouldn't have gotten classified as a Pop Star. But ever since that happened, Drake has been slowly declining while Kendrick has been taking over.

Drake last couple of top 10 hits have been pop songs. Hotline Bling, One Dance, Work (feature but nevertheless he was involved). I think this is why we have forgotten that Drake is still top 3 in terms of rapping. The 2009 - 2015 Drake was rapping his ass off. But ever since he went Dancehall on us and those ghostwriting accusations came out many people don't respect him as a rapper any more.
