I think that’s silly to say. Almost every reporting outlet including those friendly and close to Liverpool expressed that Alonso was basically their first and absolute choice. When he decided to stay we went for Slot as second option. The actual BS narrative that Yanited fans pushing now though is that Amorim wanted United over Liverpool after Liverpool went for him. All signs pointed that Amorim was dropped after initial talks and Slot became FSG choice.

I'm pretty sure we never pursued Xabi cause he plays a different system altogether than what Liverpool play.
