My 8-year-old, Peter, is a lover of beauty too. When he was 3, we were sitting on the front porch of his grandma's house and the wind was blowning, and he went up to her and whispered, "wow, grandma, your hair looks so beautiful." Meaning, blowing in the wind. He's 8 now, and he has more houseplants than any other kid in our family, hahaha. He wants to be surrounded by beautiful things ❤️

Thank you Jess for your blogs. I've been kinda down this season as Iam 64 and have been really sick this spring and I lost my sister a month ago. She was a flower person and we have a farm where we grow food and flowers but I haven't even cleaned out my green house yet. However, God is so good that he does little things just for you . I was at my sister's yesterday helping her husband clean out stuff and give away her clothes ect. And we found a box with my name in it and in it was boxes of seed strips and all kinds of flower seeds. She left a note that said to give to me in case she didn't get them planted. She had been fighting cancer for 2 years. I watched this video and God really jacked me up about getting on my greenhouse and cleaning it out. Thank you Jess for your dedication and I know God speaks through you to give encouragement. Keep up the good work and don't let it get you overwhelmed. I pray for you and your family e very day because I know you have a gift from God and your ministry touches a lot of people. God bless!

When I was little my grandparent's garden had a fountain, a birdbath, and a sundial just like that. I was mesmerized by them. They won awards for their fuchsias at the county fair and taught me about deadheading, pinching off blooms, tending to plants in their magical fairy garden. I don't remember a toy. I just remember coloring, drawing, chatting, picking flowers, endless cups of tea beneath the wisteria and the waft of roses. You never know what you are planting in "the garden of your mind" as Mr. Rodgers called it. Worth every penny.

I totally agree that having a place to sit in the garden is a must. I work from home. I purchased a portable building for my “day” job and placed it near my gardens. This way I can take multiple breaks through the day and enjoy the garden, especially at the golden hour. I found myself “piddling” in the garden every evening then going back to work for a few hours after it got dark. Best investment I have ever made.

I added a chair & mini table for coffee to my garden for the first time last year. It was my first year I received a constant production. I was able to see which plants needed a boost of fertilizer and which ones were ripe to pick before the critters. Honestly, I will always make a space in my garden for a chair & side table. Best idea ever. The chair also allowed me to sit back & watch my two little baby boys explore in the garden. I have two under 3 abs they loved looking at all the leaves. They were able to spot a caterpillar with their fresh eyes. It was truly an amazing year. 🪑💕

I could see it so clearly in my mind and I can't wait for a reality I know will be even more beautiful. I am so inspired by the beautiful gardens you create. And so true about the need for a chair in the garden - everyone at my community garden was so bemused when I turned up full passion from your channel and one of the first things I did was bring a pretty table and chairs - but I can spend so much more time there when I can intersperse periods of working with periods of sitting and watching the birdlife and really looking - it turns a few hours at the plot into an enjoyable afternoon rather than a slog of hard work. I can't wait to marvel at all your pretty seating areas to come.

I personally have seating in my gardens EVERYWHERE. I sit and contemplate what I'm doing next, where the heck I am going to plant the seedlings, or just to sit and have a glass of wine while I enjoy the ambiance. My two golden retrievers sit with me when I sit and for that reason my paths are all big enough to accommodate them as well as myself. You should definitely have curved benches (I'm thinking concrete) just off the paths that wind around the new fountain so that you can sit and enjoy the water feature in front of your window greenhouse. This will give the fountain more purpose and add to the overall outdoor feeling of a social zone.

I am taking a break from other things to get on my computer so I could subscribe to your channel. My husband and I watch KZbin on our big screen television; but it doesn't have any way for us to interact, no like or subscribe buttons or any way to comment. But you are probably our favorite homesteading and gardening channel, and I thought it was about time to let you know how much we both enjoy watching and learning from you. We've been small scale gardening for several years, and that's likely all we'll ever do, since we live in a small town with an average size yard. But you and others on KZbin have taught us a lot--even though we are both pushing 70 this year. You've inspired us to expand what we are trying to do, planning more in the way of growing our own food. We'll never have cows or goats though yours are fun to watch, but we have ordered a few chickens (after my husband bugged the city into changing the ordinances to allow some chickens) and we have a few 6 week old chicks arriving early in March. We've already put in a coop and run (from Omlet Eglu). We have a small greenhouse and lots of containers and raised beds. At our age, working directly in the ground can be a little painful. And, thanks to your recommendation, we recently purchased a Greenstalk, which we've installed on our front deck. And last week we ordered some worms for composting. You were showing the temporary plastic greenhouses, and I'd like to tell you about our experience with them. We live in very windy Oklahoma, and several years ago bought a cheap one at our local feed store. Knowing how bad the wind was, we located it inside the screen porch in front of the house and bungee corded it to the support columns. It worked pretty good for the first year for starting plants. So the next year, we picked up another one just like it, and did the same on the other side of the porch. Then we had one of those famous OK straightline winds, and though the bungee cords did a great job holding the frames in place, it shredded our plastic and blew away my seedlings. So there we were with those shelves, but I wouldn't trust them for seed starting after that. So my hubby took them and zip-tied them to the chainlink fence in the back yard. We put some of my herbs potted in heavier pots on the lower shelves, and used the upper shelves to put tools and stuff on when we were using them. After several more years, we needed that space and took them down. And guess what: we are still using the metal frame in pieces to make plant supports and the wire mesh shelves are still very sturdy, not rusted at all, and they make great pea trellises! (And for other plants that need small trellises.) You did ask about people's experience with them: so, they are inexpensive, but fairly good if they are secured in a place where they are not vulnerable to wind. But if that happens, well, there's still a lot of good use in them when their original purpose is gone. Thank you, Jess, for your wonderful channel!

With Hefe and grafting her on to Hope you can use a long thick rope the same way the no kick bar that you use in the stanchion. Just fasten it around the cows back end the same place that the bar goes. Make sure it's tight enough that it doesn't move around and rub but loose enough that the can still walk/move around comfortably. When we are having trouble with a cow kicking a calf we put the rope on their back end and leave them in the barn together for 3-5 days to bond and it usually works like a charm.

You are sooo right! Why have a beautiful garden if you don’t sit and enjoy it? Smell the vegetables 🥕

I missed this tip before. Put in a seating area in your garden. Hmmmm. My biggest gardening area probably needs this. Thank you for the idea.

I can see your flagstone and fountain, I can see the seating too. The garden is my sanctuary. I have to listen to it. Sometimes it’s just even a 5 gallon bucket upside down...

Your channel feeds my own dreams and goals. You’re the type of teacher who leaves me we not only with new knowledge, but also the excitement that I can do this too. I can learn these things. Thank you for sharing your passion by sharing knowledge along the way.

Sometimes I sit in my garden and dream of the future while I watch things grow.

Yay! Goat content. I know they're not your focus anymore as far as dairy producing animals go, but I followed you originally for goat and tomato content, so it makes me happy to see them on the vlog!

I agree about the chair, but for me it is chairs plural. I keep a folding chair in with my chickens. It’s a black plastic one that none of the chickens or the Turkey 🦃 want to perch on, so it stays clean. I can sit and talk with the chickens and hand feed them and we both are enjoying the interaction. Plus I can observe them for any changes or health problems. I really enjoy my time with my garden and my chickens.

Lol when you started to discuss seating areas, I heard seeding areas! Then I got it and it was something I needed to hear. I think that’s what was missing from my little garden. Thanks for such great advice! I’m gonna start simple with a couple of tree stumps I’ve got in the firewood shed. You’re such a gem and a fountain of inspiration!! Thanks Jess!
