Yes military does have some profitable ventures but one shoould keep in mind that they get biased contracts tax exemptions no dealing with red tape and no audit of huge defence budget. One can only speculate if they use huge defence budget to may be make their unprofitable organisations profitable. The other biggest reason for the military to start these businesses is to find high level positons for their retired officers who are not at all qualified to that job.
