Has the Yamaha MT125 been knocked off its perch by the Voge R125? Let’s try both bikes. Which bike looks better? Which motorcycle goes the fastest. Which bike has the better performance? You may be shocked by the result. I was!
Thanks as always to In2moto for letting me take these 2 bikes out. If you’re looking for a new or used 125 then they are the place to go. www.in2moto.co.uk

What i dont understand is why they dont make all 125cc to have full 15bhp , surely a few extra bhp dont cost that much more to produce,and more importantly it should at least be able to maintain the speed limit of 70mph here in the UK

100% my thoughts as well. So many with 8 to 12 hp. I have no idea why they make them so powerless.
@Rogueonepigeon
@Rogueonepigeon 2 ай бұрын
12hp is fine and in fact might perform better than some 15hp bikes depending on power to weight ratio. I agree that anything lower than 10hp is not going to be doing much outside of town.
@Rogueonepigeon
@Rogueonepigeon 2 ай бұрын
The difference between 12 and 15hp is gradients, a 15hp can maintain it's speed much better up hills as it has the extra power to push whereas the 12hp will see a bigger drop in speed, I've had both and to be honest the only scenario where this is beneficial is on a motorway(for A category license holders) however for an extra 2grand plus I doubt people will really feel they are getting value for money performance wise unless they opt for a sportsbike, especially when you can find some new 300-500cc bikes only £500 more than the Yamaha, also, those bikes are now costing more because of import and marketing costs which have nothing to do with the actual value of vehicle which is closer to 3k in the Asian markets.

The rule is defined in the SI unit of power, the kilowatt. The limit is set in European law at 11kW, and 11kW converts to 14.75HP in old money.
@Rogueonepigeon
@Rogueonepigeon 2 ай бұрын
@@robg3545 the 11kw engines are still derivatives of the GN125 12hp version, the difference being is that they have been tuned to push extra power with wider carbs, pipes, better combustion, air filtration etc, most 12hp can achieve these extra HP gains if you are willing to make DIY adjustments and pay the extra couple of hundred

I like small motorcycles and I've been curious about a lot of these bikes so I for one appreciate what you're doing. And you're being honest about them. Just look at the Mutt 125 review. Keep up the good work and let the naysayers rant all they want.

Honda Varadero XL125 - £3000 for a great condition. £1600 for a battered but serviceable one. Beefy AF 15bhp and easily can be tuned. Twin cylinder. loads have upwards of 60k miles on them. Bigger and less plasticky than all of the modern 125's. Trust me lads, best bike.

Amazing video, thanks! I really was waiting for that, since I am deciding which of those two I am going to buy in the next weeks. I love that you did ride both with all the same conditions at one day, so you were able to compare the differences of the feeling really good. Also your microphone settings are exactly the same, which allows to compare the sound of the voge and the yamaha perfectly. And the stock voge sound is absolutely amazing for a 125 in my opinion. You don´t get that deep roar with another expensive exhaust on the MT if you leave the DB killer in, since it comes from the airfilter. Now some of my thoughts and information about these two bikes in comparison so far. -The new MT 125 has some benefits like traction control and anti-hopping-clutch, that the voge has not. I personally don´t think that is necessary for a 125 so I don´t care, but everyone has different priorities. -It is possible that the MT 125 performs better at lower revs since it uses VVA. That would fit to the feeling in this video that it is a little bit quicker when you ride it in the city. It´s just a theory. But the speed test here gives a nice indicator that the voge is pretty similar to the yamaha in terms of acceleration. -The engine of the R125 is produced by Loncin (Head of Voge) and they produce engines for some BMW series. So I personally dont question the quality of the motor or Voge at all. All I read on the internet so far is positive, even after more than 10k km. I haven´t read about some red flags in terms of quality or perfomance. If someone has more information, I am really happy if you share them. -Some people say it would be better to change tires quickly on the Voge since they seem to not be the best. Unfortunately it has a more uncommon rear tire size of 140/60-17 instead of 140/70-17, so you might be limited with the amount of brands that produce these. There are still good ones available, but maybe not a Diablo Rosso 3. -For people that wonder: 75 mph is the limit of the voge (limiter kicks in in 6th gear) and that is 69 mph on GPS. I think thats really compareable to the MT 125, since it is also known for not being super precise in that regard. -People say the resale values of a MT are so good. In my opinion that point is just not true, and heres why. Imagine buying a MT for 5500 and riding it 2 years for 12000 km. Now you will be able to sell it for around 4000, since the difference to a brand new model is too low. If you do the same with the Voge, buying it for 3000, you could easily sell it for 1500 after 2 years. Everyone is going to buy it for such a cheap price. I personally think you can sell it for 2000 without any problem. But I just wanted to point out that the "resale value" idea for the Yamaha does not favour you any more in that comparison. If you pay a low price when you buy it, you can resell it for a much lower price and still lose the same in total, even if percentage wise the MT contains more of the original value. -For the MT125 there are much more modifications available so far. Noone knows if that will change over time, but for people who love to customize their bike, they will be more limited with the R125. -I really like both bikes in terms of looks, although I tend to prefere the voge a little bit more and these light strips on the side are a cool feature. -The 2024 MT 125 also has a colour display but I still prefere the ones of the Voge. It is ridiculous that you have a premium bike like the Yamaha that does not give you any information about temperature at all, even if it´s only cooling water temperature... I think that should be a basic. Maybe some people can add things that I forgot. I did not yet decide for sure but I tend to buy the Voge R125.

Great comparison ride there. Yes there may be a difference in the speedo calibration (19 seconds to the tree on the MT, 20 on the Voges), and maybe those extra decibels mean a more straight through exhaust, but as you say, not such a huge difference to account for the price.

I bought the 2024 MT-125 from Yamaha and part of me is conflicted for paying so much but at the same time, not at all. On your point of "Well you're just paying the markup for the badge and name", it's more so the service and build quality, Yamaha has great service and they resell extremely well, even back to the original dealers. If Voge had a large presence in UK, would be perfect for learner riders. One thing I noticed with Chinese bikes is that riders have wiring and spark plug issues after riding in the rain, something that put me off as I too live in rainy UK. Thanks for bringing Voge to the spotlight though! Never heard of them before

I don’t have any issues with the MT. I genuinely believe they are one of the best 125’s out there. And for a bike that is built in India I think it’s very well made as well. This video was really to showcase just how good the Voge is. For it to get near to Yamaha on build / performance is amazing considering the price. i had a look at the voge 125 & it looks great for the money but the deal breaker was the way the basic suspension is designed means you cant get a lowering kit for it, you would need a shorter shock or a custom seat. the MT is super tall for a 125 but you can get lowering links & lowered seats for it. That’s not true. Motogb have parts and a big dealership network in the UK. Not forgetting Voge make bikes / parts for other bikes so you could technically use parts from other manufacturers as they would fit 😉

The issue with Chinese bikes is the longevity isn't there. So many owners complain of issues sometimes even after just a couple months of ownership. Looking on trust pilot Sinnis have 2.4 stars with over 58% of reviews being 1 star. Lexmoto has 2.6 stars overall and 37% are one star reviews. So many owners report issues, thus currently I couldn't buy a Chinese bike. Because of the longevity/ reliability issues. Even if I planned to keep the bike for just 1-2 years, I still wouldn't get one. Also this is a new brand and there's not much info about the reliability of it. I wouldn't risk it. I also presume the dealer network will be rubbish. If I was to spend my money I'd get the Yahmha. Even though its more expensive, there's a peace of mind and the dealer network is brilliant. Also the resale values on bikes is brilliant. (Shame I bought a ktm instead 😂😂)

I think the issue with 125s and why lots of people gravitate towards the cheaper Chinese ones is they see them as disposable. Have it for a a year or two till you get your full bike licence then sell it so they don't care if it would last as long as a Japanese counterpart. I'm a bit guilty of that myself since I saw a used sinnis outlaw for sale and one of the first thoughts I had was that should last me long enough without major issues till I get my full license which admittedly isn't the best thing to think about a vehicle of any kind.
@AutoGaddi

@@lostgps3005 definitely agree with you, most people keep 125cc for 1 -2 years then sell them on.
@GillyBikes
@GillyBikes 2 ай бұрын
@lostgps3005 the way I look at them is if you pay less you stand to lose less. Over a few years of owning the Yamaha will lose £2000 but the Voge won’t. Because it was that cheap to start with. If the Voge loses 50% of its value that’s about £1350 if the Yamaha loses 20% that’s about the same. But the reality is it will lose much more than that. As you lose the VAT when it rides out of the showroom and that is currently 20% so it would lose 20% straight away.

@SeveralChaptersChannel
@SeveralChaptersChannel 2 ай бұрын
there's roughly 3 thousand pounds difference. to be fair that is a lot of money considering both bikes have nearly the same technology just different engine and size. in the uk we cant get on big bikes until your 21 so our laws are much different to yours assuming your American/Canadian as you said dollars. and in the city a 125 is just enough so that's why most of us ride smaller bikes we don't have to sit the big bike license and still able to ride around
@ruffleschips9055
@ruffleschips9055 2 ай бұрын
@@SeveralChaptersChannel I understand. Maybe the UK is right. Maybe a 125 is all that is needed for city driving. The UK isn't wrong about everything. It's a beautiful country. Only the government ruins it. That's the way it is for several countries.
