I personally like my bikes with a lot of electronic aids, with the understanding that such electronics make the bike considerably less reliable but far safer. Insurance companies, who presumably keep detailed statistics on this type of stuff, give you insane discounts if you have ABS. So while older bikes from before circa 2016 can be reliable, they're also quite difficult and dangerous to ride.

I'm a Honda guy though and through, but the '08 and 09 CBR1000RR's are notorious for engine problems/failures. Especially the 08's. Just wanted to throw that out there. Also, stay away from the 2017 FZ/MT-10's. Horrible throttle response which made the bike super jerky even riding at slow speeds on a less than perfect road. They also have a hard time passing gas stations. I owned one. It was one of the worst bikes that I've ever had in the stable. That being said, the Ducati Diavel WAS the worst bike that I've owned. SUPER high maintenance, and the particular unit that I owned, had electrical issues that caused it to stall or die when rolling up to stop signs and red lights. It was in the shop 3 times in my only one year of ownership. I sold it for a loss because I didn't want its spaghetti dripping Italian cooties to make their way to my other bikes. Ducati left such a bad taste in my mouth that I swore off all European motorcycles and will only go with the Big 4 from Japan from here on out. Primarily Honda or Yamaha. Most of them, at this point, have been fixed, or they wouldn’t have lasted this long. The 2008 had crank issues, and both had oil consumption issues, but they’re non-issues now. They’re great bikes. They went from 2008-2016, though, and didn’t have issues after the first couple years. I have a 2021, and it’s the exact, same bike, except for the electronics, minor engine specs, and fairings.

Many kawasaki models are reliable

What's not reliable about Kawasaki? Name the models. Or laugh at yourself.

@@exothermal.sprocket I can't remember the bikes that werent reliable (gave them many tries) I just remembered they weren't the last try with kawi for me was a jet ski and that was a 2012 stx12f. so now it's yamies for skis and Suzuk's and Buell's for bikes. You have to excuse me in 50 and have owned alot of stuff I just know kawi and me don't get along...... And for the record BMW is the same boat as kawi. I mean I like there product but will never be me owning it I just look from afar! 😉

@@costasgeorgiou5015 Have you had any Kawasaki motorcycles? Or just the temperamental jet ski? Buell hasn't been known as the bastion of reliability either.

@@exothermal.sprocket yes I know that about the buell but we get along better then the kawi and I. Yes alot of them from a 1990 zx6r up till when I have up on them around 2008. The tried again with the ski.... So yes gave them many chances.
