the point is that that’s not what the offside rule was brought in for, it was to stop attackers sitting on the edge of the penalty box and teams just hoofing it up to them. in close offside calls, the attacker is gaining no advantage from being offside - it just happens that his kneecap is behind the last defender or something equally as stupid

I don’t think they know what the word robbed means in football terms 😂. Robbed is when something is CLEAR and OBVIOUS and the ref chooses to not agree with that. That game it was literally offside, no two ways about it. The line was drawn and it was offside. Yeah it was extremely close but that doesn’t mean they were robbed when the right choice was given.

It’s offside. People say that it should be a certain part of the body, but that just leaves it being arbitrary. The scenario would end up being different everytime and would cause uproar. It’s just easier to make it that if any part of the body is offside, it’s offside

I think the whole premise of the offside rule needs to be changed. The point of the rule is to prevent the attacking team from having an unfair advantage, even if his toe was offside that gave Coventry no advantage at all. The rule should be that the attacker needs to have their entire body in front of the final defender in order to be offside

Offside law needs to change. If it’s so close that you need to take minutes drawing lines that are connected, then give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker That Coventry goal was the definition of level. Depending on what frame you use, could decide onside or offside, really fishy

AWB was pulling his arm behind his body not towards the ball so the decisions evened themselves out of you want to be technical so definitely not a robbery.
