Thanks Keith.. Im a nordic inst in eldora ..its.my first yr teaching ..this weekehd my first private and group .. Any advice on private vs group .ive shadowed our more experienced instructors ..so i got their take on it ..but im.coming more from a naturalist point of view .. Its a sport yes but beyond more if a way of life and being more connected to the wilds of the forest ..since much of our nordic trails here at eldora are in national forest .very few open flat areas..thanks for your great content

With private lessons you likely need to ask what that person wants to improve on and go from there..I use video with many private lessons to help with feedback...of course with group lessons you need to do the same thing but with more people less chance to do video and individual focus is less . Hope this helps

From olympic champion Johannes Klæbo I picked up that for force you must push your skiis with your toes. I.e. Walk on toes.

Well, try a trick I learned from my ski instructor plus something I also found on other channels - focus on 'sliding' the hind leg forward as if you're trying to put on slippers:) Meaning, that the foot behind is probably hitting the ground too early and too strong. But for sure it would help if sb could see a video;)

Hello Keith: hope you can find time for this........OK.........I live in Kingston, ON and today skied on the local classic trails but the conditions were above freezing and our Winter hasn't been the best; anyway I've watched all your videos on classic skiing and I'm still having trouble getting a proper stride?? I seem to suffer like many from the shuffling syndrome and would really like to get proper diagonal striding but just seem to lack either the grip; co-ordination; balance; power or all the above.......what would you suggest?? I'm 60 now but still have life left in me to race so any assistance would be much appreciated;thanks,David

@@k2nicol Yes very interested.......as you can appreciate Keith in-person instruction always best but I'm limited where I live for that but if I can stride eventually like Klaebo I've be very pleased.😁

@@k2nicol The other issue I have Keith; and just watched one of your videos again; the trails out here are more rolling hills and many turns left and right so not enough long sections like in your videos......there is one place I can try but unfortunately the snow is gone so may have to wait until next Winter but will look at more of your videos in the meantime; thanks

@@k2nicol Hello Again Keith; you know I appreciate all you've said regarding the "proper" Classic diagonal stride vs the shuffle and being old school myself I've always benefitted way more from in-person instruction!! As a former military instructor myself video teaching aids will only get you so far but real hands on experience brings it all together and it would be the same for skiing...........having someone pick apart my poor technique "live" and thus show me the corrections needed will go much further in the process Keith..............so what I need to do is find where and how I can get a qualified ski instructor and pursue this Thanks,David
