as a californian interested in linguistics, its funny to hear all of the attempts at a valley girl accent. the most accurate one is from trinidad/tobago girl everyone else is using the wrong vowels, especially in 'oh my god', which is like, quintessential BUT they do have the right intonation, which is why you still clearly get the 'passive-aggressiveness' sound you can see in dialect coach videos where if the intonation is right, people will know what the accent is even if youre just mumbling sounds

The irish language was banned by the english during british rule so now there isnt many people able to speak it fluently. There are areas around Ireland called Gaeltachts where only irish is spoken but everyone can speak english too.

In New Orleans you get a mix of so many accents it’s crazy. It’s not even people out of state or country, just weird Texan accents plus Belle Chase and general American with very few Cajun actually. You can definitely find a thick Cajun accent but you’d have to really look for it. Cajun and creole accents are really only English + Cajun or Creole French (both of which are dying out).
