11:51 chat is dumb criticizing the operator for asking how old she is while she’s dying, the operator was just trying to keep her responsive & awake so she didn’t die. she wasn’t just asking her questions like that for the fun of it, she was trying to keep the women conscious. that’s why she said “stay on the phone with me”. the operator did great keeping composure & trying to keep the other woman engaged. chat is just.. smh 🤦‍♀️

Organs are squishy, maluable, and surrounded by bones, muscle and fat. arteries are highly pressurized tubes that are directly connected to the heart. I almost bled to death when I severed my radial artery, luckily instead of going completely into shock, I was about as focused, and free of anxiety as I've ever been in my life, seriously, I would be able to give myself more anxiety right now just thinking of no longer existing, but as I'm dying, zero, none, it's like, where is this calm in the rest of my life. knew I was in trouble, knew if I didn't stop the bleeding soon, I'd pass out and die, and that wasn't even so concerning. I live in Middle of Nowhere Oregon, my ex’s small hometown when having our second child. He went to high school, or his parents are friends with, basically all of the local police. He was incredibly abusive and the cops never have a shit even when the neighbors called; said everyone was, “wasting their [the cops] time.” They protected him because they knew him and his whole family, and because I wasn’t the “perfect victim” in their eyes. Even when my ex now takes the kids without my consent or doesn’t take any preventative measures against ‘the virus’ for their sake, the cops tell ME to calm down. So yeah, Hasan isn’t wrong about small town cops. Anywhere else we’ve lived this dude would be in jail by now, *for sure.* And that’s probably why he’s trying to buy a house here- so we can never leave, since I don’t have the finances and am disabled so I don’t have the ability to take us out of this situation- at least for right now. Especially when they wouldn’t ever let me press charges, making it a lot easier for him to deny being an abuser and danger to us in court.

Honestly, if they’d taken me back to the station for it I probably would have locked up and cried, tell them about that one time I stole ice cream as a kid or something.

11:12 This is so utterly gut wrenching. Could you imagine being this 911 operator… desperately trying to get information to help as a woman is just in shock, repeating she’s dying. As you listen to her get weaker and weaker. And then things get worse. And worse. And worse. And then the call suddenly ends and you need to take another call. And another call. And another. And another. For hours a day. Every call as tragic as the last as people call during their worst, saddest and scariest points in their life. And you, as an operator. Have no help. No way to help other than to get others there and talk to them. For days. Weeks. Years. All while receiving zero state-funded support for mental health care to help you through the trauma of being the usual very first responders to crimes. Absolutely tragic how these heroes get passed by and forgotten so easily.

People don't understand the randomness of ballistics. Just because you've shot someone in the leg, doesn't mean the bullet will only impact the leg. It can hit the bone and ricochet into vitals. I read a story about a girl who was shot in the thigh, the bullet exited, then re-entered through her pelvis, went through her stomach, hit her rib, then bounced into her heart.

Police being nice to the suspect (at least while they first bring them into the interrogation room) is normal. It’s the “good cop, bad cop” routine, sometimes they can get a confession without even needing to get to the “bad cop” part. I don’t think they are being nice because they like him, he’s a black man who shot a woman in the state of Florida, and they are the police after all.

Jacksonville native here in prior to 2020 you can buy and own a rifle or shotgun as well as ammo at 18, with no waiting period. You can only possess at pistol at 18, Purchasing a pistol is restricted to 21 years of age with a 3 day waiting period unless you are a LEO or Correctional officer then you can purchase one at 18+. Currently there are no state wide or Duval county laws or statues that limit capacity of magazine capacity Now with current legislation there is a 3 day waiting period for all firearms and you must be 21+ to purchase firearms unless a LEO or CO, but you can still possess firearms at 18+. A Concealed carry permit also voids the 3 day waiting period. If you have anymore questions feel free to let me know.

@@six634 At least that's something.. Where I live in Texas (Just outside of Fort Worth) you can literally walk into a gun store, and buy any non-pistol firearm when you're 18, and at 21 can buy all firearms, but those restrictions are only placed on buying from licensed firearm distributor, and it is completely legal to own a gun at any age over 12 so you can walk into one of the 1000 gun shows happening at any given moment and buy a firearm (and it's completely legal).

I replied to a comment inquiring about gun laws in Florida and Duval county (the county Jacksonville is in) so I decided to give everyone here some info on gun laws here. Jacksonville native here in prior to 2020 you can buy and own a rifle or shotgun as well as ammo at 18, with no waiting period. You can only possess at pistol at 18, Purchasing a pistol is restricted to 21 years of age with a 3 day waiting period unless you are a LEO or Correctional officer then you can purchase one at 18+ with no waiting period.
