Noam Chomsky, among others, has helped me understand that I am a citizen of the American empire. His point seems to be that human empires would like to think they have their distinctive virtues, but they do not. I had to chuckle at his comment that he will not be interviewed by NPR, but he did not give a particular reason for that. Would it have anything to do with the length of his monologues? Which is also to say that KZbin and forums such as the Chris Hedges Report, provide a wider audience access to presentations that can go to the necessary length to establish sound arguments. For that I am grateful to both of these gentlemen. I will say I drew hope for the American empire that it appears that both of these men were speaking from some place of relative safety within America, that they were not speaking from prison, nor did they pronounce their intention to leave the jurisdiction of the empire. Enjoy the peace?

Long live Noam Chomsky!!. Embraced Noam as a linguist since the late 60's & evolved & grew with Noam Chomsky and Howard Zin and well as a few other unpopular voices of critical acclaim, all who spoke so eloquently humble, sensible & true to their own words without ego or a soapbox pulpit to spew drivel from. & all being the unsung heroes of my formative years in the late 60's onward to this day. The truth never hurts anyone, that's unless evermore promises of lies feels good & sounds great to those particular anyones. God knows we have been infused, overdosed and over stimulated with lies, deceit, divisiveness and blatantly obscene over- the- top greed ever since Ronald Reagan, the infamous B rated Death Valley Days Hollywood Cowboy & his Screen Guilded Squares entered the pre- Orwellian scene back in 1980 & reigned supreme over those minds who thrived off being pawns of mass deception, worshipping that boot strap cowboy & dear leader of some delusional free world fantasy, before, during and after the long Cold War. Afghanistan broke the Soviets back in the late 1980's and in turn the long Afghanistan & Iraq wars broke the US's exhausted mind and empty pocketbook a decade later , Especially after losing a war/conflict & so much coveted national trea$ure plus active duty military personal (as well as the untold lives of so many Vietnamese civilians) in the Vietnam Conflict just 20 some years before.. And then finally again in Afghanistan where the point was proven to the warmongering world that beyond the shadow of any doubt, Afghanistan is the place where empires have always gone to die. Hopefully with those harsh decades of experiencing long losing streaks the free world may realize that nobody actually wins at war anymore. The calvary is not coming soon and will not be there to save anyone. Despite their geopolitical positions & beliefs China and Russia were once our allies not so long ago. Being raised in the "duck and cover" paranoia era of the 1950's & 60's, where we were told that the Russians and Chinese will invade our country take our hot dogs and hamburgers away and make us eat cold Russian soup and stale bread, or fish heads and rice (on the west coast) was the common threat from the pinko commie fear propaganda machine, a fear infused world that children in my generation had to endure and some even believed.

@@tommartin4199 "they should have the decency to remove themselves from society" - yes that is no different than required vaccines for school attendance. The first mandatory vaccine was in the 1850s for Smallpox. If you don't want to study the science on Covid then that's your problem. I read "sci-hub" so I can read the science behind the paywall - the person who made that website has to be in hiding so we can read science for free. Yet you choose willful ignorance at her expense of having to be in hiding. That's what's depressing! Noam Chomsky as an elderly person has a 13 times increase of death from Covid with 80% of the deaths as the elderly. If you don't stand up for the elderly then who is next? Just as the saying goes against the nazis - first they came for the union activists but you did nothing... First Covid came for the elderly but you did nothing....

It should be mandatory that every American listen with both ears open to this absolutely brilliant and peaceful man. I found him just a few years ago. Everything he says is factual. Some don't like it. Most dont like it. Thats why the stupid corrupt system will never change. Strides have been made. But I won't live to see a peaceful world. Sad

Interesting to hear that the USA is considered the greatest threat to world peace by the majority of the world. Not surprised one bit knowing it wasn't published here. I'm one who has long felt that exact belief and a citizen residing in that part of North America. Always enjoy professor Chomsky's perspective knowledge. It's a national disgrace that so few of us will take the time to listen to this wonderful man.

It would be interesting to see Professor Chomsky's take on "rewriting history" as it seems to happen almost daily in Ukraine about the day before. Even deleting tweets or burying them could be considered a rewrite of sort.

he has done that for 90 years so it's probably 2nd nature to him at this point. most people of those "dozen younger journalists" grew up with television, music, comics and a lot more distractions than noam
